My wife and I are going to Vegas between Christmas and New Year. We are staying at the Belagio. Any must see's while we are there?

I did hear that there is a guy selling 25,000 dollar chips for half price.

We will probably go out to Hoover Dam, and we have tickets to a magic show, but that's it so far.

Depends upon what you like to do.
If you're into the city scene - there is a ton of gambling, shows, drinking, etc. Walk the strip, see the new CityCentre, marvel at the size of everything. Check out the fountain show at the Bellagio, the volcano at the Mirage, and the shops and canals at the Venetian.
Try to see a cirque de solei show, I liked Mystere but Ka and O are both great as well.
If you like rides there are coasters at Circus Circus, rides on top of Stratosphere (if you really want the tar scared out of you).
If you like nature, check out Valley of Fire and Red Rock Canyon. There's also the Grand Canyon if you can spare a long day - either by motorcoach or flying trip.
I agree that the Dam is well worth seeing - amazing.

Have a great time.

Just remember that it is the period where most of the major shows "go dark". Everybody goes home (wherever that is) for the holidays.

If shows are "your thing", as it is for us, you may be disappointed. We don't gamble. We have a local casino 30 minutes away from our home, and I have yet to go there - even though it was built over a year ago. However we've been to Broadway several times each year, in addition to just going into the city for the day (we're about 75 miles west of NYC).

Something Really Fun to Do

Go down to the blackjack table and bet $25 on a hand.

When you win that bet you will then have $50. Let your $50 ride on the next hand.

After you win that you'll have $100. Let that ride also

repeat for a total of 10 hands at which you should have just over $25k

you could stop there if you want. Or if you want even more, play another 10 hands as above so that your total will be just over $25M.

Buy everyome a drink to celebrate and then relax and enjoy the good life you will have from now on out.

- Now wasn't that easy !

If you like the Beatles, there is a C.du S. production that is very good at the Mirage.

If we get out of St. Louis on time we should be there around noon. I like masterblasters plan. Maybe I'll just start with $100 and really go big. Hopefully the weather won't be to bad.

I know we have tickets to see a magic show, and we will have to see who else is there. On going to the dam ect, it depends on the weather.

Well we made it back. The things that I didn't expect was the cost of food and all the kids. There were people pushing strollers through the casino everywhere. I just don't see the attraction for the kids, I took mine to disney or the beach.

And people were lined up for over hour waits to pay $35 for the buffet. But after I ate at the other places at the casino I guess I understand.

We saw Chris Angel, which I didn't think was worth the money. But we also saw a Elvis show and the legend's show that was OK.

It was very crowded over the weekend. I didn't expect that for the time of year. But I didn't think about school being out for the little ones. Somehow I broke about even with the gambling, but I'm not a big gambler. Somehow I couldn't win the 10 in a row, but I did play for a while and got a few free drinks.

I love Vegas this time of year & it generally pays me about $40/hour to play poker & drink Grand Marnier.

I don't want to leave.

Check out Aria Hotel development ($8.5 Billion) for the whole thing. Walk to the rain fountain. Have a Manhattan in the Mandarin Hotel Bar (12th floor I believe), great view! So not Vegas, much more upscale.

The Hotel (Mandalay Bay) rooftop bar also has a great view.

I hate Vegas, but love the desert and its a cheap place to fly to. Many great drives from Vegas as your base. Rent a convertible or Harley and go to Red Rock, Fire Canyon, Vegas Ski Resort, Grand Canyon West, etc
