I crack up whenever I go anywhere - it seems each nationality has some way of 'infiltrating or conquering' the world - with the Irish it's their pubs. They usually have Guinness on tap (or the cans which are 'tap-like.') I personally don't drink much, but if I have an issue, I will go into an Irish pub and ask some questions.

Have fun in the 'stans.' Definitely a different place - haven't beenthere, but have had several colleagues go - plus my husband went to Azerbaijan and Republic of Georgia- I've been to Moldova....interesting places, for sure.

I have found Irish and English pubs all over the world. Exactly how genuine they are varies quite a bit based upon local drinking laws and who owns the pub.

I was trying to top that but I really can't.

Although I do get a kick that my Japanese-Chinese fitness instructor, has a side business of running a Mexican food truck, with a haole (white) woman, without a drop of Hispanic blood in her, in Hawaii.

Can only tell you that 12 yrs ago we took a train from Frankfurt to Prague to Krakow to Warsaw to Berlin. We had to debark at the German-Czech border. My comment to DW was that in walking 50 feet we went back 50 years in time. Deutche Bahn was clean, nice and new. Czech rail ... less so. Much less. I swear that some of their rolling stock we pre WWII. Nasty.

It was NICE to get back to Western Europe.
