Hello Everyone,
My flight from Fort Lauderdale Airport is @ 11:50AM. My ship arrives at Miami Cruise Port at 7AM. The Cruse people are not providing shuttle because it is 10min earlier than noon. Does anyone know how much the cabs charge or if the shuttles are available? Is this flight too early?
Thanks

Ordinarily I don't like to send people elsewhere because this is such a great group but the REAL specialists who can answer your question are on cruisecritic.com.

In addition to giving you ballpark costs, what they're likely to tell you is that even when a ship gets into port, it can take a LONG time for the ship to clear customs and immigration and for everyone to get their bags, which is why the cruise lines don't want to take risks by having you book earlier flights. (Airlines apparently know this and the flights leaving late enough for people arriving on cruises are more expensive!) Still, I can see why you decided to chance it for a 10-minute difference.

Looks like a 30 minute ride on google maps, I just took a 30 minute ride to the Vancouver airport that was $30 CAD.

I honestly forget how much my taxi ride was over to the port a year ago. Seems.like it was $20 for the two of us.

Just about everyone going into FLL takes a taxi as there are often a.bunch of ships in port. Taxi's simplify getting to the ship in 15 minutes.

If we have a tight connection we take our bags off the ship ourselves. We use Uber or Lyft.

Port Miami to FLL will be an expensive ride, $50-$75, probably closer to $75. Uber may be less expensive but they surge price and a cruise disembarkation might cause that surge.

Another option is to get to Miami airport and take a TriRail to FLL. It'll cost less. The stops are not at the airports, they are close by, and TriRail has shuttle service between the rail stops and airports. You could take an Uber from Port Miami to the TriRail.

Sometimes it’s cheaper to book a town car from a limo company than use a taxi. Or you can google for Miami cruise port to FLL shuttle and take your pick.

Right now Uber says $44-$58 but the price could be much different at another time. You will be going during rush hour if it is during the week.

We actually used Uber in that type of situation when we got off our cruise in Miami but can't remember what it cost.

+1 This.
We winter in Fort Lauderdale and this is about right...I'd lean more toward $75 to $100 depending on traffic.

Install the Uber app and the Lyft app on your smart phone, and do a trial run for the same pickup and dropoff points you're interested in at the same time of day and week that you'll need the ride. Then you'll have two fairly accurate estimates of the cost, and you can choose whichever one is cheaper. Generally, in my experience, that would be Lyft.

My thoughts exactly. Carry your own bags and click for Uber/Lyft as soon as you're off the ship. You'll be bored at FLL waiting for your flight.

A limo or town car might be hard to do since the OP doesn't know exactly when he/she will be getting off the ship.

This would work well if you have the time. You could end up waiting to rent a car just as long as the 40 minute drive to FLL. If you have the time and inclination to save $40 it could be worth it.

Personally, I'd Uber/Lyft or look into a limo. They make that run all day, every day.

Plus, you're coming off a relaxing cruise. Why get right back into hassle-land for a few bucks?

group shuttle $20/pp from Mia's port to FLL. Uber quote was >$60/car.

for shuttle, it is a big black Sprinter with about 12 seats inside. As soon as you get out of the port door/gate, cross the street to the median area, where people catch Uber/shuttle. Look for the guy in BLUE shirt with a big smiley face sign. No need to make reservation. He will collect enough people for the Van then they will leave the port for the airport. You will need to be the first batch of people to get off the ship (carry your own luggages and be down @ the gangway as early as they allow/instruct you to for disembarkation).

shuttle van name: Lux City Tours
