Ivana gets off

Prolly not a great strategy for us mere mortals. Ivana no doubt gets a slap on the wrist. You or me, more likely an extremely enthusiastic cavity search followed by a night in the holding pen and being brought in front of a judge in the morning.

She probably could've gone about it in a better way but I don't blame her. The kids and the parents are the ones who should've been thrown off the plane. If you're going to travel with young kids you have to keep them under control. If you can't, then stay home.

I vote for Ivana, the kids, and the parents to be put in the SAME cell for one night. :ROFLMAO:

2 more failed marriages since The Donald and one before The Donald = 4, and it sounds like "somebody" has developed a little drinking problem maybe? Screaming and cursing like that at children, particularly when she had some of her own and knows how kids are, is not normal by any means. Not that screaming kids should be allowed on planes, but she surely didn't handle it appropriately.
Another fine example of money alone doesn't make for happiness often...although I would offer myself up as a example to study if they would give me her money for just a year or two to spend. I'm very generous that way.

I bet she booked 1st class and they had overbooked it, so had to bounce her back to coach. I'd be screaming too.

AMEN
When I w*rked, I traveled a fair amount. I got so sick of being subjected to unruly kids on airplanes. Not only annoying, but a real safety issue.
I have my seat kicked from behind. I've had no sleep because of kids whining about the flight length.
I also got vomited on by a young boy whose grandparents loaded the kids up with a huge shopping bag of junk food on a transatlantic flight.
End of rant.

To the kid bashers - remember that the parents of those kids have to live with them 24/7/365 for 18 years. Take pity on us, please! :)

Our kids never caused a scene in public. Yes, we took them on coast-to-coast flights, and they behaved better than a few adult passengers I have seen. Some of my nieces and nephews were the same. Some others, gosh, I cringed when they came over for holiday family dinners. They would tear the house down if not watched over constantly.

As it turned out, most of the hyperactive ones were able to outgrow their naughtiness and calm down when reaching adulthood; they are in their 30s and late 20s now. Thank goodness! I even wondered if they could even finish HS if they couldn't sit still for 5 min!

My daughter was the same in public and on long flights, not because she was just naturally perfect but because she wasn't allowed to behave like that. She flew to Hawaii with me when she was two, and never bothered anybody (thanks to new toys, bulkhead seats, lots of attention from me, and a good dose of Benadryl to calm her down). The kids can't help being kids, but it is considerate for the parents to at least try to do what they can when in close quarters like that.

As for Ivana, I can really sympathize! I might not say anything if it happened to me, but kids misbehaving like that on planes can be so aggravating.

I would have complained to the stewardesses, but I wouldn't have "screamed" and "cursed the little kids" or even their parents. But I'm sure I would have made my thoughts known...just in a more subtle way in public. I mean, come on, folks, Ivana made such a scene she was "escorted" off the property. Now that's pretty bad in my book. I'd find that totally humiliating myself.

Nothing is more disrespectful to other people than kids who run around loose in restaurants, planes and other public places like wild Indians. Parents should have enough sense to not allow it, but some don't even seem to notice. Unfortunately.

They threw the wrong people off the plane. Just like that incident with Southwest Airlines a month or so ago, they should have thrown the brats and their parents off the plane and left Ivana alone. They are the troublemakers, not Ivana.

Hmmm, I certainly have had my share of flights with annoying passengers (some of whom were children, other of whom were under the age of 18), but it strikes me that many here have unrealistic expectations of genuine kids. Yep, some of them are unruly monsters. But lots of others are small children unfamiliar with air travel, bored, possibly frightened, likely excited, or a combination thereof. How about a little understanding?

But don't mind me. I am just tired of being seated in the "children's ghetto" when going to an unfamiliar restaurant.

Agree. Some here, who may or may not have kids or have experience dealing with kids don't seem to understand the realities of kids. Maybe taking it easy on the kid is the best way for the parent to mitigate the bad behavior. Would you rather listen to a parent yell "sit down, shut up!" 1000000 times on a 6 hour cross country flight? Or give em a whooping then listen to the kid screaming and crying incessantly for 5.9 more hours? There are worse things than boisterous kids.

Maybe some of our fellow posters should consider taking alternative modes of transportation that aren't public - like a private car or private chartered plane/jet - if they don't want to be exposed to the vagaries of traveling with the general public on a common carrier.

That being said, sometimes I wonder if our legal system should give amnesty to allow us to smack around fellow idiot passengers. Just a little bit, of course, only to the extent necessary. :D

I think this is a symptom of decades of increasingly permissive upbringing and a child-centric view of society where it's hard to fault young children for thinking the world revolves around them, because most of what they have observed leads to that conclusion. And when this child-rearing philosophy reaches a "critical mass" of parents and kids, you start to see more of this sort of thing rearing its ugly head.

I do know that a lot of parents wouldn't put up with their children carrying on in public, and many of them would remove a disruptive child from an environment such as in a nicer restaurant, in church or any number of other places -- but too many parents do seem to parent as if the world is all about their children. And until there's a way to add a "time out room" to an airplane (fat chance), it's pretty hard to deal with that one after the fact. It's one of many reasons why I've come to despise air travel, and I hate it more each year with the passage of more junk fees, more restrictions, more security hassles and more crowded planes.

The ones who should consider taking alternative modes of transportation that aren't public are the parents and their bratty kids. THEY are the ones not suited to fly with the general public and they should wait until they have trained their bratty kids to behave before inflicting them on the general public and forcing them to bear the costs of their brattiness.

I am really sick and tired of the kid-centric mentality of today's parents who feel they can bring their kids anywhere and everywhere and force everyone else to put up with their brattiness. Make sure they behave or don't take them with you. If you can't control them in public, expect the possibility that others will try to, and not in way you may necessarily approve of.

Keep it in your pants, bud...

Ivana gets off

All I can think of is....lucky Ivana.:cool:

>:D

Generally speaking, expecting kids to sit quietly and behave while cooped up in a flying metal penis for several hours is delusional, at best.

Thankfully, I'm not a frequent air traveler...

I'm joining the chorus of sympathy for Ivana. Not that I don't feel sorry for you parental units and all, but jeesh, these kids on planes can be horrible these days.
Like W2R and others, when I was a kid, I didn't make a peep if I was lucky enough to get to travel somewhere on a plane!

For the record, I have yet to bring my kids on a plane. Part of the reason is that I'm not sure I could handle five hours of trying to get my kids to be quiet and sit still. And the potential whining, crying, fighting etc... :)

However if I needed to travel with kids to visit family, for example, I wouldn't hesitate to do it even if it made others around me uncomfortable. Maybe I could bring a handful of xanax with me to share (with my kids and with those passengers around me!).

Yup, that's just the way I feel about smoking.....

Here in Spain the multiplication can easily reach 28/30 years:mad: and then a few more years part-time....
A few parents have been brought to trial by their almost 30 year old children for not being adequately looked after by them financially and thrown out of parental home... Needless to say the children were given what they wanted by the judge.
Public opinion outraged.... but a lot of psychologists didn´t find the verdict unreasonable.

It is this attitude, the "I don't care if my kids bother you" attitude, which bothers both us childfree people and responsible parents who don't subject others to the bad behavior of their kids.

Please train your kids to behave on a plane or don't subject the rest of us to them. :(
