I am writing this from our home in PV MX. The main crime to focus on here is pickpockets. They are looking for their next quick fix. It is not blatant but it pays to take care and not leave your purse unattended at Walmart. The same issue applies in Vancouver where MIL lost her purse in a Safeway.

When we drove across the border through Nogales in October, there was a major drug takedown underway. It caused some traffic jams but no flying bullets.

Violence in mexico

Last summer my wife and I spent one week in Puerto Vallarta. We felt safe walking around the town and even safer at our resort. From what I have been reading, they claim it is still as safe as it was. It is a very beautiful part of Mexico and I hope to visit it again.

Not fully articulated - but I suspect the family proposed get together in Baja (Rosarito) may have had some of the negative news in the background as most family would be driving from San Diego via greater Tijuana/ and a toll road - of which I'm totally unfamilar with.

heh heh heh -

So far no cases of swine flu on PV. Semana Santa went by without any major incidents this year. No gringos have been killed or robbed in the streets except for the usual pickpockets and purse snatchers.
