Las Vegas deals

I'm going to be in Las Vegas in October for a week. I have been there many times and don't have anything particular I am planning on doing except checking out some casinos, gambling, watching the Bellagio fountain show, and going to certain restaurants. But I have never been to a show and would like to do some interesting things this time.

How can I get discounted tickets to shows?? (Or what free/inexpensive things are there to do?) I'll be staying on the strip for at least half the time but could stay in another section (eg, downtown), and could rent a car although I wasn't planning to.

We bought our show tickets online before we got there. Tix4Tonight has a lot of locations on the strip... they have a list of tickets available for that night that you can buy.

We loved Jersey Boys at the Paris Las Vegas.

Try Groupon and other deals sites for tons of things ranging from discounted meals to show tickets to ideas for other activities.

I've used Tix4Tonight several times and found them to have excellent customer service. Beware the lines can get long and it is hot in Las Vegas. Go early when they first open(10am +/-)

My favorite free activities are always just walking around the more interesting casinos, Bellagio fountains, Treasure Island Pirates show, moving statues at Caesar's Palace, etc. A couple of other free things are the Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo and the Bellagio Conservatory. On one of my last visits I saw the Mac King Comedy Magic Show at Harrahs for the price of a $10 drink. This is a 2 hour show in the afternoon that normally costs about $40 but you can get the discount coupon at a concierge desk at Harrahs. It is a good show that gets rave reviews.

Last time there we bought the cheapest, farthermost away seats we could. These shows are rarely full during the week. They moved us down to the first section because they want all the people up front.

It was the Michael Jackson Cirque du Soleil show.
