I rented an apartment in the West Village, but only for five nights. We found it on Craig's List. I would really like to rent for 2 or 3 months after retiring.

Good luck and I hope you keep us posted on what you find and how it works out for you.

Hi,
Check out Airbnb.com. They offer rooms or entire apartments for rent. It's basically subletting.

I just updated a thread on our experience (only 4 nights) here and wrote more on the topic here.

Good luck.

Hi,
May want to check out www.VRBO.com . Vacation Rentals By Owner. They have lofts, apartments and more in NYC.

FWIW, craigslist seemed to have more interesting listings oriented towards the 2/3 month time frame than airBNB/VRBO when i did some casual inspection of the three recently
