before, 3 of us worked 7 days a week 12 hours a day, 4 months work 2 months off.
You get your weekends back when you take vacation 4x8 =32 weekend days 2 weeks off every 6 months. I use to forgo my time off and let the guys working for me stay on vacation until I needed a vacation, once I went 18 months without a day off. This time I plan to work 10 months then take about 6 weeks off which is close to what one gets with holidays, travel time and vacation per year.
