Snowbirding in New Smyrna Beach in 2020

Thinking about it. Anyone been there and have any suggestions?
  • Canaveral National Seashore looks good.
  • Half Wall Brewery appears to have some of the top rated beers in the world.
  • Ponce de Leon Lighthouse and Museum
  • Kayaking in the Indian River
  • Water is a brisk 61 in January. Won't be swimming.
  • I hear Canaveral National Seashore has a nude beach but no one needs to see my 60+ y/o bod.
  • If we are lucky, we might see a launch.

What else?

#1 for shark bites. If you do decide to swim.

New Smyrna is a sleepy beach town. Not too diverse. Daytona Beach is nearby and Orlando is a little over an hour away for more to do. Agree with shark bites. NSB is shark bite capital of FL.

We live 60 miles north and have never been there except to drive through. Not really memorable. We would not make it a destination, there are way better beaches around. But if you are looking for what it offers, that is great.

My parents retired there and it's a pleasant place (except during motorcycle week). It's a convenient location for seeing northeast/central Florida sights (you can do one Orlando park on a day trip and flights are much cheaper there than Daytona). If you check it out, try the fried ipswich clams at Boston's Fish House

Boston Fish House in Winter Park is the real deal. Deep fried seafood goodness once in a while for me and my family. Reminds me of classic fish frys in New England.
