Tips for researching air fares

NY Times has a good article on looking for air fares. I was not aware that Orbitz no longer lists American airlines, and that airlines in general are feuding with the discount travel sites over fees.

There is another good article, though imho, not quite as useful as the one above.

The itasoftware.com site mentioned in the article is the best tool I've found for finding low fares. The month long search feature is especially nice if your travel dates are flexible.
