Trex is always on vacation!

I miss going to Lake Tahoe! I used to get there about twice a year when the air wing went to train at Fallon, NV. Skiing in Oct rocks!

Mr. hawkeye.... I love the ski areas in the Tahoe area, as a young person I would go to Slide Mt., Squaw Valley, and many of the ski areas on the north side of Tahoe. Long drive from Shasta Lake, but when you're young, a 4 hour drive is no big deal. Other than skiing, what was your fav. thing to do in the Tahoe area?

PS, we like to stay in downtown Fallon, (small RV park/casino), when we travel to Vegas. Nice half-way stop...

In June, this last summer, the Bunny and I went camping with our friends to Lake Siskiyou, which is located 5 miles west of Mt. Shasta City. On day three we all went out on the lake on a rental patio boat.

I got to be the "Captain", because I was the 1st person there, and the only one in the group not drinking beer in the AM. The Rental rate for the 10 person patio boat is $36. per hour.

Once we got out away from the marina...we let the two 14 year olds take over the operation of the boat. Siskiyou county just built a new bridge for hiking and biking, so I wanted to take a look at that. Great weather for a boat cruise....

The day before our patio boat cruise we setup camp...

On Sat. Wino Wayne & Roxanne got there....they stayed at our campsite, using my 60 sec. tent, and air matress. Greg, Terri, and John, Cathy also showed up in the early PM....They stayed in rental cabins next to our RV site.

Once everyone got settled in, we all went for a bike ride, except Indian Mike who went fishing. Some of our friends had not seen Rita, (our 40 year old Airstream), for months, so I think they were surprised that Rita was back together and how nice she looks after remodeling the interior. We got here the day before the rest of the group.

The cabins where Greg & Terri, and John & Cathy stayed were really nice... most of the cabins have a great view of lake Siskiyou. I had to show our new overhead cabinet in Rita...I just installed it the week before our trip.

Today, the Bunny and I are getting "Rita", our 40 year old Airstream, ready for our very first Airstream Rally, at Jackson Rancheria RV park...its located 40 miles southeast of Sacramento CA.

Looks like there four airstreams already there..."Fresh Air" posted this pic yesterday on the Airforum. I am so looking forward to meeting all the folks from the airstream forum! The Bunny and I depart tomorrow for Jackson! "FUN, FUN, FUN tell your daddy takes the T-Bird away"!

This last weekend, The Bunny and I went to Jackson Rancheria Casino, for our very first "Free" Airstream rally. I say it was free, because there are no costs to attend, other than your RV site...and our RV site was discounted by $15, because of the group rate.

The best part of the rally was meeting the people... After following most of them on the forum, and talking to some on Threads. It was really nice to put a face to an Avatar! What a wonder group of folks! And the potluck on Saturday night was one of the best that I have ever attended.

The Bummer part of the rally was...The Bunny got sick, so Saturday night was a short night for us, and we didn't attend the campfire event on Saturday night....so if you have pics of the campfire that night. Please feel free to post a couple of your photos here. I really would like to see them!

PS, I won $500 the first night, so I want to thank Jackson Rancheria Casino for paying for our fuel, RV site, drink, and food during our stay at Jackson...and that is "The rest of the story", it was truly a "Free" rally for Trex and The Bunny.

One of the best features of Jackson RV park is the walking trail that goes around the preimeter of the campsites. A great place to walk our dogs, Speedy & Jacky. Plus I loved seeing wild turkeys walking just outside the fence at the pool & hottubs.

Great pictures. Thank you for sharing, Trex.

Thanks Dr OB, The Bunny and I love the Northern Calif. area, and love to show it off to the rest of our early retirees... and future retirees. The cost of living is higher in Calif, but "You get what you pay for"..... Jackson California is located just one hour southeast of Sacarmento, in the northern California hill country. It was a 4 hour drive for us to get there.

More pics of the walking/bike trail....

Dear Uncle Sam.... The year is not over, so I'm sure I can show a gambling lost before Dec. 31st.

Lots of great food, I couldn't eat, because of my type 2 diabetes. And Pink flamingo lighting in front of a 80's Airstream motorhome...fun stuff.

More pics from last weekend at Jackson Rancheria Casino... I loved that there was this great mix of old vintage Airstreams and new ones.

Looks like the Bunny and I will be camping in ours...at home. We are painting & installing a new floor in our bedroom, so we'll be camping in our backyard for a couple of nights. I guess it's nice that we can use Rita as a spare bedroom.

Last winter the Bunny and I went on some great bike rides along the Sacramento River trail....Fall, Winter, and Spring are the best time to ride in Redding, because the temps are in 60's to 70's.

Feb. 27, 2011

Today the Bunny and I went for a bicycle ride on the Sacramento River Trail in Redding CA. 14 mile round trip from Keswick Dam trail head to the Mt. Shasta Mall.

The city of Redding just completed a new section of trail from the Sundial bridge across the river to the east side of Redding. So it was our first time on the new section. Nice day, but a little bit cold. Photos of the sundial bridge and the peace labyrinth.

If you're ever in the Redding area, take the time to stop and walk across the sundial bridge, nice way to take a break from a long road trip.

Today The Bunny and I went on a bike ride on the upper most part of the the River trail, from Shasta Dam to the Convention Center, 20 miles. Nice workout, great weather, and a fun ride. The only issue today was that the Bunny left her keys in my truck, so when we got to the convention center where her car was staged, we had to call for a friend to come and get us. Nice weather... 60's in the morning, mid 70's by noon.

Thanks for sharing all your adventures. You and The Bunny are really enjoying life!

Hey Ms. power... Life is good, here in NorCal. Going to a retirement party, and than a Halloween party at a friends place later tonight. I just installed my new Rock Guard yesterday, so she's, (Rita), really to go to Rolling Hills Casino next weekend.

Our trip to Feather Falls Casino was a great time. The weather was cold and foggy, but the food and beer inside made up for the crappy weather.

The Bunny broke even, but I won $300 at the poker table Thursday night, lost $200 on Friday, and I won the $35 buy-in, No Limit Texas Hold'em $1,500 guaranteed Tournament Saturday night... 1st place paid $535, but I agreed to split the pot with 2nd place, (before the finish), and give 5th and 6th place their money back. So, I ended up with $400 and some change.

On Friday in the PM the sun came out, so I did get a bike ride in, and a couple of dog walks. And The Bunny made soup on Friday and Saturday, so there was always some great food back at the Airstream. And a good reason to check on the dogs every couple of hours. The low point of the weekend is when the 49ers lost!

We got some $10 & $5 off food coupons, and the Brews were only a $1 per pint from 4 PM to 11 PM. So, it was nice to win some money, have some cheap beers & good food. Plus, have the whole Holiday weekend paid for by the casino! Anyway, Scotty-Man... I don't think we held back, but we were pretty safe overall!!!!

I didn't see any snakes, didn't drink any hard liquor, and any didn't unhook my truck all weekend... and I'm glad for all three, because it made my life easier when it was time to go home. Taking the dog to the veterinarian would have been bad!

Jacky stayed in his dog cave under the diner more, because the weather was cold, and the heater was next to his cave. Bunny didn't want to use her bike, but I used mine to get to and from Rita, to check on the dogs thru-out the day. Plus it was nice to get out the smoke filled casino every two hours or so...

Hard to get a good pic of Jacky... he's camera sly. Speedy was looking for food on the floor.

I wore my lucky "Dude bowling shirt" for the poker tournament, Saturday night. Other players at the poker table started calling me "Art". Not one person knew it was a movie "prop" from the Big Lebowski!

Overall....The Bunny and I had a great Thanksgivings weekend! Have a safe and Happy Holiday's my ER friends....

Hey Trex!
Thanks for the fabulous pictures...I am definitely going to add a few of your destinations to my bucket list. It is nice to get messages on this forum from our neck of the woods.

We love our Airstream. It is now our guest house. We parked it on the property when we were building our house. I need to take some more pictures of it, now that we've moved into our new home.

I was born and raised in Northern California...I love it here. The land is part of me...yea, I'm still "California Dreamin'"

Hey antmary... are you guys on the Airstream Forum? If not, you should be! There are a lot of NorCal "Streamers" out there and some really great "Free" rallies at Jackson Rancheria & Casini Campground, down along the Russian River.

Hope to see more photos of your Airstream!

The Bunny and I just got home from Win River Casino & RV park, in Redding CA... Just in time to sit down and watch the 49ers play the Rams.

Anyway, we both like the new RV sites at Win River, but they are very basic. No Restroom/showers, pool, or hottub... But the price is right...

The hook-ups are well designed and located in just the right location for easy hook-up. Also, I was able to leave my truck hitched up to Rita all weekend, because The Bunny drove her car down, so we were able to go home Saturday morning and shower & check on things. Our house is only 14 miles away.

I won $300 playing poker on Friday nite, and loss the same by Sunday morning, so I broke even...:greetings10:

Here's some pics of the RV sites & my $14 antena, (over 20 channels on free TV!).

If you're passing thru Redding CA with you RV, and you're an Elk member & looking for a place to overnight. $20 bucks will get you a nice, safe place to park for the night.

We just got back from four days of camping at the Redding Elk's lodge RV park. Friday night we played cards and had dinner at the lodge. Saturday night we attended our annual "Motorcycle Friends" xmas party at John and Cathy's place, just 3 blocks from the Elk's. And Monday night football was fantastic..with the Niners winning, and $5 Pulled Pork sandwiches. Plus, I got in a couple of bicycle rides in, with temps in the low 70's during the day.

The RV sites are very basic, so make sure you bring your "Blue Boy" if you're camping in a vintage Airstream/trailer. The only thing I don't like... I had to un-hook my truck... yes, I'm lazy!
