Turks and Caicos
We're leaving on Thursday. Any suggestions?
We went to the Mexican Caribbean each summer for many years but it got a little scary so we're branching out. I just got through greasing the seal on my underwater housing for my camera!

Take lots of notes. You may want to go back and spend more time there at some future time. Property is cheaper inland, of course.
For those who don't know, they use the US$ for their currency.
Lots of Canadistanis take their Loonies off-shore there. There is a standing joke that Canadians want to make T&K part of Canada. Probably not a good idea. The tax invisibility would disappear.

Are you heading exclusively to Provo, or spending time on other islands as well?

We don't have firm plans but have talked about island hopping.

Is the camera for snorkeling or do you dive too?

We used to dive but carrying around all that gear got to be a pain so we mostly snorkel now. You can see all the stuff you need to just diving from the surface.
I took the video below while free diving over a hawksbill turtle in Bonaire last summer.

Yes, if you have to haul the gear it is a hassle. There is some really nice diving off of Northwest Point there on Provo but it's a long boat ride from Grace Bay. Almost guaranteed shark encounter though if you wanted to rent some gear and give it a go.
Nice video on the turtle. We're going to help with hawksbill turtle conservation in Cozumel this summer. Looking forward to that.

This is a most interesting quote. What criteria might help you decide what someone else "needs" to see?

WAY COOL! In Bonaire last summer, I went to a turtle conservation meeting and bought the t-shirt. Let me know how you feel in Cozumel. From Texas, it's really close and cheap but we've gotten concerned about safety.

Maybe I should say I can see all that I WANT. I used to do the wreck dives and all that but mostly I just like the simplicity of jumping in and swimming with the fish. Lots of fish and coral to see under 20' but not everything. Does that help?

Turks & Caicos....great vacation
I took my family there in 2006 and we stayed at Royal West Indies resort. It was fantastic. Grace Bay beach is beautiful. It was voted number one beach in Caribbean at one time.
The restaurant at RWI is one of the best on the island....Mango Reef. Great food and reasonable prices. We enjoyed a catamaran excursion through Sail Provo. Swimming, snorkeling, beautiful beaches, and lunch.
My son and I went on fishing excursion and caught local grouper.
I would like to go there again.

We stayed in the Club Med. The beaches were world class but, in terms of being in the water, I liked Bonaire last year better! The view out of the water is pretty good at ALL those places!
