Universal Studio - Bring Food In

Looking for feedback from vacationers to Universal Studios/Island of Adventure in Orlando.

We are planning to hit the Universal parks tomorrow and was hoping to bring food in to save some money.

We have a soft sided cooler, bottled water, fruit, veggies, and snacks. I think that will go fine. We also want to make up some sandwiches for lunch.

Anyone bring sandwiches in and have any problems?

Thanks

You can bring snacks and water but only a very small soft sided cooler. Universal's policy can be found here.

Yeah, they'll be out of your cooler and into the trash.

You could fit one sandwich in the tiny cooler that is allowed. Each member of your party would need to carry one tiny bag. They reaallly want you to use their restaurants.

One could always try.
And try the Kosher food argument as their food they sell is probably not Kosher.

Or the Vegian diet, as besides meat, they probably cook most stuff in some lard or animal based oil, and don't get it certified Vegetarian safe.

Can you go in and out of the park and leave a cooler in the car with food and ice ? Means a trip out to the car which could be far and not fun.

Good thing they don't charge you to breathe the air.

Thanks All. I will try. I am on a low sodium diet so a sandwich on low sodium, low carb bread along with homemade chicken without added salt is important. Doubt could find a sandwich like that in the park.

Most bag checks in parks are perfunctory anyway.

You shouldn't have any problem if you are just bringing in a couple of sandwiches, some bottled water, and a few other small items to snack on.

I don't know where you've been going, but last year at Disney and Universal the bag checks were right up there with crossing the Berlin Wall. Even the checks for music festivals are getting fairly intense. I had to buy these to be sure of getting a little booze in to the Grace Potter show I went to recently.

Good for you! We like to pack our own food when possible, too. It's a money saver.

I haven't been to Orlando since 2013. Did go to Hersheypark last year, though. The bag check was more intense than previous visits, but not outlandish like Orlando has gotten apparently. It really isn't the food they're worried about.
