Maybe walk to the nearest plowed street (if within a few miles). Then call Uber.

Probably a bad idea but oh well. [emoji3]

Walking with one's luggage, even if it is a carry-on, through snow and ice? Then, one falls, breaks some bones, and ends up spending the vacation in an ER room?

I know right. Just a random brainstorm that could possibly work. I saw Steve Martin do it in Trains, Planes, and Automobiles.

Even living in Colorado, I have never had snow stop a trip. Cause delays, yes, but flat out stop? No way. Had more delays changing planes in Chicago then anywhere else.

Our driveway is as long as OP's, and I make sure that I plow the driveway or arrange to have it plowed before I'm ready to leave for the airport. I have never had a problem getting to the airport. Chances are that our flight would be delayed or canceled anyway if our driveway was impassable. We did do the airport hotel once to make sure we would make it

You must be talking about the scene at 1:30 in the following clip. I can see the OP and her husband doing the same.

+1 on the hotel reservation idea. Book it now. If it's a refundable booking, you can usually cancel up till the last minute. So if it looks like decent weather a day or even a few hours before your anticipated hotel check in time, cancel the hotel and stay at home. Otherwise, if it's looking like nasty weather then proceed to your hotel as scheduled.

We go on a lot of December/January cruises and I have that nagging doubt about what we would do if the forecast called for us being snowed in around the time of departure. I guess we could head south a couple days early if the forecast looks gnarly, but "south" might be all the way across NC, SC, and GA into Florida (Jacksonville might work, and that was our "half way point" on the drive down to Miami 2 weeks ago).

Keep an eye on the weather and if there is significant risk of snow then just leave earlier and get a hotel near the airport.

Around here, some hotels near airports will let you leave your car there for up to x days if you stay a night on either side of your trip so the extra cost is minimal if you can find one of these places.

I hope it works out and you have fun. We've gone with our grandchildren several times and I'm beginning to think there is no uncrowded time anymore. We still have fun though.

So how was your trip? We are going in April, which is not my first choice, but fits our brother's family schedule.

Drive. DW is retiring March 1, and we are driving from Upstate NY to The Villages, in Florida.
I am so happy we are not flying. I hate dealing with weather, and connections, and uncomfortable airplane seats, etc etc.

As mentioned above, if you drive you can adjust your departure time to leave before or after the storm.
I much prefer the flexibility of driving, and the comfort of my own front seat.
