Bye, bye, the Soapbox is nigh,
Used to get a lot of action but the posts have run dry,
All the mods are tired and drinking some rye,
So this will be the day the Soapbox dies, yes this will be the day the Soapbox dies..........

Nice try. But I think I'd hang on to that day job a bit longer before retiring to become a songwriter.

Well, let's clean up the meter a little bit:

My, my, tell the Soapbox goodbye,
Often heated but some pleaded
That we not let it die,
The flaming threads, they made the mods want to cry,
Saying "that old board's departure is nigh... that old board's departure is nigh."

Okay so where is the goodbye party being held so we can watch/hear the Karaoke versions and how much rye do the mods have to drink to judge the winner.

Gonna miss the soapbox.

Oh well back to my Pssst - Wellesley razz.

Soap gets in your eyes.
So I chaffed and then I gaily laughed,
To think that they could doubt my love,
Yet today, my love has flown away,
I am without my love.
Now laughing friends deride tears I cannot hide,
So I smile and say when a lovely flame dies,
Soap gets in your eyes.”

"Fluffy" has been in the soap a couple of times but is wary of it now.

CuppaJoe, I think "Fluffy" would be just as wary of the soapbox It was fun while it lasted and I have to admit I enjoyed some of the time I spent there. Who could forget the Sarah Palin thread? It was right up there with the Millionare Mommy tread for high drama. I got to know many folks much better and even though we disagreed on many issues, we are still on friendly terms. Or should I say, I hope we are still on friendly terms:confused: In any case, goodbye soapbox and cheers, purrs and headbumps to everyone

So what time zone does it die in - don't we need a count down clock so we can sing Auld Lang Syne?

Hey, I hope you will keep all the old threads, yes?

Some days, I will read them, as I have been missing out on all the drama, too fearful to set my foot in this forum.

Hopefully the mod squad will lock them all down but keep them available. Lots of promises were made during the election, and lots of folks were very vocal about what their guy/gal was going to do. It will be interesting to look back after a year or two.

I'll miss that darn old Soap Box . . . 800 hours of my life I can never get back. I can only imagine how Ladelfina feels, as she had much more "invested."

I would be very disappointed if they got deleted.

I became more detached from politics in this election, hence was able to stand back a bit to observe. It's interesting how reasonable people can react so differently to the same events.

If this was directed at me, I have argued with Dems, Rep, and Libs. The moment someone blames all this or that on a particular party, that would get me upset, like with my own brother recently. Then, I would lose my cool.

Fearful was not the right word to use actually. I was getting tired of this stuff, and came here looking for some friendship, not to fight.

That was directed at the personification of the soapbox, actually.
