Ouch. Saw it at $3.45 yesterday, a new record here. The GMC Sierra pickup generally doesn't get driven unless it's hauling something.

$3.15 at the 'cheap' pumps here. Seen it as high as $3.24 at the brand name ones.

Wow, I had heard that some pumps in Hawaii had hit $4. Didn't realize anywhere in Chicago had hit that point. Are you sure it wasn't deisel?
Here in MN I have seen about $3.26, but that was yesterday.

Today's price here is $3.39.

We have also parked the GMC Sierra pickup and we only drive it when we are going on long trips or out of town.

i paid $3.29 last week, i see it is up in the 3.30s this week. i figure it will cost me about $80 round trip fort lauderdale to daytona. such is the advantage & disadvantage of having bought a v-8 but at least one that runs on regular. that exhaust which used to sound so nice and throaty now just sounds like it is slurping. nah, who am i kidding. i still love it.

You wimps. I paid $3.79 yesterday, and that's at my discount "cardlock" station. Chevron is $3.89.

$4 a gallon haha we are going to look back on these days with envy when prices are up around $10 a gallon.
Up here in Montreal its $1.27 per liter today, went up $0.14 a liter over night
I hear a lotta people griping about gas prices but when i'm traveling the interstates the normal speed is 80mph and up and most vehicles are some SUV variant,Minivan, pickup truck or larger sedan, very few fuel efficient cars like my Toyota Echo/Yaris.

I spent some time on rural Illinois interstates this week. The official speed limit for trucks is 55 mph. I think I saw one going that slow. Most were close to 65. Time is still more valuable than diesal.

I didn't see any big cars doing 80. Almost everybody was hanging around speed limit (which is 65) plus 5. Plenty of pickups, SUVs, and minivans in the mix. Of course, I can't tell how many people left the big car home and took the small one for the better mileage.

In the London Times last evening they were saying fuel was about to hit 1GBP per litre. That would be about $7.60/g

Locally in the PNW it was 3:50-3:53/g today

It's 3.25 or more here in suburbs of DC. Still getting 5% per gal discount with the Shell Mastercard. Due to the discount, we only use Shell, but Penfed has a 5% off all brands card.

It appears that car buyers really do react to price (and to general economic concerns). These numbers are typical:

Quote:
Nissan Motor Co. reported a 10% increase in car sales, led by the subcompact Versa and the newly redesigned Altima. But Nissan's truck and SUV sales plunged 20%, with the Nissan Titan pickup down 45% for the month and the Nissan Armada SUV down 43%. Nissan's overall sales were down 4% for the quarter.

Truck sales have been hurt by the slowdown in housing construction. Small cars fared best as consumers focused on fuel efficiency. The Ford Focus saw sales jump 24% for the month, while Toyota's subcompact Yaris saw sales rise 83% and Honda's subcompact Fit saw a 74% jump.

GM and Ford said consumers are also choosing more fuel-efficient four-cylinder engines over six-cylinder options. Ford's top U.S. sales analyst, George Pipas, said 70% of Ford Fusion buyers are now getting the four-cylinder engine for the midsize car, compared to 60% at this time last year.

Stop with Europe is paying 7 8 and 9 dollars a gallon, they have GREAT RAILROADS!! Great public transportation which is subsidized by the govmints. We have none. Our economy has been built on cheap gasoline and the automobile. We have no real railroads.

You don't really need a car in europe for day to day living. and when they do drive it has been a small gasoline or diesel vehicle that gets over 40 mpg. Not the idiotic full size pickup or dumb suburban, or better yet a Hummer!

And here the big news has been the big DROP in gas prices since April 1st, when a long-standing "temporary" gas tax failed to be renewed by the Diet. Only $4.50/gallon now (down from $5.50/gal). Fill 'er up!

So maybe it's time for the US to change!

Maybe a little near-term pain will yield some long-term gain. ER planners should understand that concept.

After I read that I remembered the various neighbors I've lived alongside before, who would get in their car to drive down to the end of the block to pick up their mail or drop off their trash, or meet the pizza guy. I think if gas got up $10/g they'd only drive there once a week instead of once a day, but that's the kind of laziness that'll keep people rushing everywhere at 80 mph trying to get somewhere at the last minute. Just as long as they're not running me over while I'm going 60.

It's like people think every little thing they do should be a convenience to them; take as little time as possible, and not interfere with their time infront of the television. How do you change a mind like that?

I just paid $4.04 for diesel for my commuter car. Its up to $4.14 now! It was my most expensive fill up ever at $60.46. I did get 707.7 miles out of the tank, or 47.4 MPG.

I too wonder why we compare ourselves to europe? In dubai and venezuela the gas is less than 50 cents a gallon.
