I just voted - do it early, it will be crowded

GA allows you to vote early without a reason. The wait was 40 min to vote.

Everyone is expecting a large turnout this year. Then again it was expected in previous years and they weren't out of the norm.

The GA poll operators did a nice job - everything went smoothly. GA requires a photo ID and uses electronic voting machines - no problems.

The only item of interest was that 2 people didn't know that it is against the law show campaign buttons near and inside the polling area. The poll worker told them politely about the law and that they had to take it off of leave - they took it off.

I like GA - it is a peach of a state.

So get out there and vote early.

Wow Dex - 40 minutes wait to vote! I'm surprised so many are voting early. I know lots of people who are waiting for the debates and to see what happens with the bailout package. Even those who are pretty sure who they want to vote for right now are uneasy about what's going to happen between now and election day. It's gonna be a close one for sure.

Yeah..... here in the Chicago area I could have voted four or five times in forty minutes! What the heck were you doing all that time Dex.......? Maybe you took time out to carry your gifts back to the car?

In order to minimized the crowds many states are extending the polling periods.

Republicans vote on Nov 4. Democrats on Nov 5. Some foolish Democrats will vote on Nov 4. but the smart will avoid the crowds and wait until the next day.

I always vote absentee and either drop it in a mailbox or at any polling place on election day. I'd rather wait until the last minute hoping that certain candidates drop out.

Youbet, how much do they pay for votes in the Windy City these days? I wonder if my grandfather is still voting there; he's been gone since '50.

Well, it varied. I used to pass out packs of cigarettes for the precinct captain (60's) but we didn't really know for sure if the person voted Dem or not. More typically, if you worked for the city, or a friend or relative worked for the city, or if you owned a business or worked at a business that did business with the city, or if you needed a favor such as a repair to your house or a building permit or you or a friend needed a city license......you voted Democratic!

If you're going to pass through this area at election time, a good address to use to tip off the judge that "you're with us" is Wrigley Field. So make a note of this in case you need it: 1060 West Addison Chicago, IL 60613-4397.

And thanks for being an important part of "The City That Works!"
