Media bias on Monday Night Football?

So I was at the Washington/Pittsburgh game last night, and had some "dream seats"- row 3 at the 30 yard line. About 5 seats over in row 1 there were 2 men who had brought signs. One was an Obama/Biden sign and the other was a McCain/Palin sign. They were very good natured about everything (obviously buddies or relatives) and were waving their signs in hopes of attracting the MNF cameras. Well, the cameraman did finally show up, and before he took the shot, he told the guys to put away the McCain/Palin sign and he would only shoot the Obama/Biden sign. The guy holding the McCain/Palin sign did not look happy after that. I'm not sure if equal time was given on the air from other shots in the stadium, but from where I was sitting, that did not seem right.

That's a pretty hilarious story. It sounds like a cameraman thinks very highly of himself.

Media bias for Obama? Surely you jest!

If I'd been holding the McCain/Palin sign I would have told the cameraman to stick it where the sun don't shine, and quoted Article 1 of the Bill of Rights.

So, did the guy holding the McCain sign put it away? Shame on him, if he did.

I did not see the broadcast, but perhaps the camera crew had already recorded another fan with a McCain/Palin sign and wanted to balance it out. Or, as someone implied, it's a conspriicy of the gravest order.

Yes the guy holding the McCain/Palin sign did put it away- hey, I guess he really wanted to be on national television.

What bothered me about it is that the shoot became a "staged" event for the camera. What you saw was not the true scene. It looks like this is what has become of today's media.

If this is all true, it's just another example of what's wrong with politics today -- it turns a lot of otherwise decent people into total jackasses who are completely intolerant of any dissenting opinions.

This is ALL TRUE. I, witnessed it with my own eyes. My wife actually was bothered by it more than I was.

Sports of all things is the one place in our culture with the "least" bias. The thread title strikes me as grandstanding though. I agree they should not have made the guy put his McCain sign away.....I guess some producer in a trailer tells the camera operator what to shoot and decides what goes on the air. ESPN/ABC gave time to both candidates at halftime.

Im more ticked at all the Steeler fans in the crowd. Security should have confiscated all Terrible Towels from FedEx field!

I understand your point (it would have upset me, too), but I think your comments fail to hold both parties accountable for their actions. I don't think we should let the guy with the sign off the hook. If the media should be held accountable for their transgressions, then those of us who comply with them should also be held accountable.

Just my 2c.
