Obama turning his back?

So, now Obama has quit his church.

Smart political move - maybe. But, is he not turning his back on all those paritioners who gleefully sat in the audience and cheered? Will this backfire against Obama as he distances himself from his beloved church and its loyal members?

Sure, denouncing the racist remarks of the preachers seems reasonable to most of us. Obviously he did not agree with what they were thinking and saying. Quitting the church however is another matter. He now is saying he does not agree with the members of the church also. Maybe Obama is even saying he doesn't agree with those people who, though not members of the Trinity church, can relate to it and what it stands for. All those African Americans who have given him 90%+ of their votes.

Is this the way Obama will confront those who hate America if he is President? First, he will stand in silence hoping no one will notice the haters. Second, he will try to explain why he supports those who hate America. Third, he will disavow the leaders saying they are wrong. Finally, he will quit without a fight. Just how much change was accomplished?

Would it not be the better thing to do to stand in front of the church and speak to its members directly? Tell them their racist, bigoted thinking is wrong. That they must change their attitudes if their lot in America is to be listened to and taken seriously.

Obama is a political coward. He chants "change" but when it comes time to actually "do some changing" he runs for cover. What better thing to change than bigotry, hate and racism in America.

So far, Obama has shown the courage of the Cowardly Lion - he runs away at the first sign of trouble.

I guess you are disappointed that Hillary won't get the nomination.

There are rumors that there is a fairly incendiary video of an address by Michelle Obama that will also be uncomfortable for BHO. He's made her a part of his campaign, and if this stuff is true (nothing firm yet) then he'll have to do something about her, too.
It's getting a little crowded under the bus, what with Rev Wright and now the entire Trinity United Church of Christ under there. William Ayres will be next (if people ever wake up) , with Michelle possibly on deck.

He may need a whole fleet of buses to accommodate everybody that may need to be sacrificed before November. .

Ever heard the phrase "damned if you do and damned if you don't"....whatever Obama does will be torn apart by the conservatives. Hopefully, the liberals will do the same to McCain whenever they get the chance!

Uh, of course they will. This is politics we're talking about here. Partisan victory is more important than truth, decency or good public policy...on both sides.

He quit the church but did NOT denounce their actions and words......interesting........of course without this powerful church, he would not have gotten to where he did so quickly,so I guess it makes sense...........
