You DO know that the above quotation is a spoof, right? It wasn't said by Obama; it was suggested tongue-in-cheek as an all-purpose stump speech for the 2008 campaign. See further snopes.com: Greatest Nation and Mark Steyn on Barack Obama on National Review Online.

Here is a legitimate contender:

"Too many good docs are getting out of the business. Too many OB-GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country." (Bush in Poplar Bluff, Mo., September 6, 2004)

bigwonderfulwyoming,

this is at least the second time you have started a thread with scam content.

Here's the other I recall:

Buy American GAS?

snopes.com: Saudi Gas Boycott

Please, take a moment to search through snopes.com and other hoax sites before posting. Why should others need to do it for you? Let's be considerate, and keep the noise level down, please.

If you have to resort to falsehoods in order to put Sen Obama in a bad light, he must be a pretty good guy!

" BigWonderfulWyoming" - you're highly unlikely to change anybody's mind using the ER Forum "Soapbox" as a platform for promoting your personal favorite candidate -

But just to show I can do it too: I nominate any of the following quotes:

"Special interests and the demented philosophy of conquest have driven most wars throughout history. Rarely has the cause of liberty, as it was in our own revolution, been the driving force. In recent decades our policies have been driven by neo-conservative empire radicalism, profiteering in the military industrial complex, misplaced do-good internationalism, mercantilistic notions regarding the need to control natural resources, and blind loyalty to various governments in the Middle East." Statement on the Iraq War Resolution, February 14, 2007

"It’s time to rethink the whole system of HMOs and managed care. This entire unnecessary level of corporatism rakes off profits and worsens the quality of care. But HMOs did not arise in the free market; they are creatures of government interference in health care dating to the 1970s. These non-market institutions have gained control over medical care through collusion between organized medicine, politicians, and drug companies, in an effort to move America toward “free” universal health care." Diagnosing our Health Care Woes, September 25, 2006

"The moral and constitutional obligations of our representatives in Washington are to protect our liberty, not coddle the world, precipitating no-win wars, while bringing bankruptcy and economic turmoil to our people." Freedom Under Siege, 1987

"We have depended on government for so much for so long that we as people have become less vigilant of our liberties. As long as the government provides largesse for the majority, the special interest lobbyists will succeed in continuing the redistribution of welfare programs that occupies most of Congress's legislative time." (Speech in the House of Representatives, September 17, 1997)

"Racism is simply an ugly form of collectivism, the mindset that views humans strictly as members of groups rather than individuals."

"Those who seek a pro-life culture must accept that we will never persuade all 300 million Americans to agree with us. A pro-life culture can be built only from the ground up, person by person. For too long we have viewed the battle as purely political, but no political victory can change a degraded society. No Supreme Court ruling by itself can instill greater respect for life. And no Supreme Court justice can save our freedoms if we don't fight for them ourselves." Federalizing Social Policy, January 30, 2006

"A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when our own front door is left unlocked"

"America was founded by men who understood that the threat of domestic tyranny is as great as any threat from abroad. If we want to be worthy of their legacy, we must resist the rush toward ever-increasing state control of our society. Otherwise, our own government will become a greater threat to our freedoms than any foreign terrorist." o Freedom vs. Security: A False Choice, May 31, 2004

"Because federal hate crime laws criminalize thoughts, they are incompatible with a free society."

"When the federal government spends more each year than it collects in tax revenues, it has three choices: It can raise taxes, print money, or borrow money. While these actions may benefit politicians, all three options are bad for average Americans. "

"In the free society envisioned by the founders, schools are held accountable to parents, not federal bureaucrats."

“Freedom is not defined by safety. Freedom is defined by the ability of citizens to live without government interference. Government cannot create a world without risks, nor would we really wish to live in such a fictional place. Only a totalitarian society would even claim absolute safety as a worthy ideal, because it would require total state control over its citizens’ lives. Liberty has meaning only if we still believe in it when terrible things happen and a false government security blanket beckons.”

"It's a mistake to think that poor people get the benefit from the welfare system. It's a total fraud. Most welfare go to the rich of this country: the military-industrial complex, the bankers, the foreign dictators, it's totally out of control. [...] This idea that the government has services or goods that they can pass on is a complete farce. Governments have nothing. They can't create anything, they never have. All they can do is steal from one group and give it to another at the destruction of the principles of freedom, and we ought to challenge that concept. "

And last but not least: (one of my fav's)

"Good morning, Mr. Greenspan. I understand that you did not take my friendly advice last fall. I thought maybe you should look for other employment, but I see you have kept your job."
o Hearing before the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Financial Services, February 17, 2000

I guess Mr. Bush felt a lot of love in the air.

BS is exactly what you would get in the conversation and of course a hang over. Maybe while you guys were a little tipsy Mr. Bush could get to enlist in the service so that you and your loved ones can go fight in his war in Iraq.

God Bless Us All

Read the United States Constitution -Article 1 Section 8- and the War Powers Act of 1973. This is not "Bush's War"- only The US Congress can commit the US to war, and keep us at war. So, actuallly, it is the US's war- as in us, since we elect the Congress (except for Zipper and Milton...) I realize a lot of you think Bush is responsible for any and every action or inaction of the US government. I am strongly of the OPINION that he isn't. He has his faults (so did Slick Willy, the demigod of the Democratic party, for that matter) but we have had a Democratic Congress - in control of both houses- for two years now- I don't think anyone on this board has cited examples of any significant legislation that they have introduced and passed to address a lot of what people on this board are quick to categorize as Bush's fault- gas prices, unemployment, the stock market, economy, etc. - all of which were humming along nicely until 2006, but have declined significantly in the past two years. What economic recovery legislation- bills that would enhance and create jobs in the private sector, improve US productivity, reduce the federal deficit, improve the balance of trade, lower personal and/or corporate taxes, have been put forth by the Democratic Congress and subsequently vetoed by Bush?

Ok, let's accept that it is a spoof.
Just how would Barack have said it

Notice the OP has completely ignored the fact that he posted a falsehood to start this thread, cherry picking his responses, just like everywhere else he posts. Please move along all, nothing to see here but a troll looking for a fight. I think yahoo hosts boards more appropriate for this kind of activity.
