Ok... this is a total and complete rant on my part. Not really political.... but maybe in certain aspects.

It was a rare rainy and cold night here in AZ where I live. I was sitting at a light and got rear-ended. We both pull into a gas station to take a look at the damage.

Her hood is cumpled up but other than that looks to be just fine. My car (a '99 Honda CRV) appears to have NO damage whatsoever. My car looks fine... but you never know. It was dark and I could not see everything so I start asking her for her information. She says she has insurance with Allstate. Ok... can I get her Allstate policy number. Hmm... she cannot find the insurance card. Ok... can I get your name and drivers licence number? Got her name... claims she has no licence. Not no licence with her.... but no licence at all. Great... I am thinking... probably not even here legally.

She gave me her phone number... I gave her mine. I told her I was going to cut her a break and not call the cops to come and figure it all out. It was rainy and cold... and she had children in the car. There was no damage to my car that I could see (after I got it home I got under the car and really looked.. and could find NO damage at all.). I am very lucky for that.

This morning I called up allstate just to see if my faith in humanity could be restored a bit. No such luck.... they do not have a record of any such person being insured by them. I might try the phone number later just to see if she even bothered to give me a real phone #.

They really need to change the laws to be much more damaging if you try to drive around with no insurance. If I had seen any damage at all on my car I would have called the cops for sure...
