Have you heard the story of Karla Faye Tucker? I don't remember the details of who she killed, but while in prison she underwent a transformation and became a Christian. When it was time for her to die, she pleaded with Bush. While she was doing this he was mocking her. He went ahead with the execution. An excerpt...

In the weeks before the execution, Bush says, a number of protesters ^came to Austin to demand clemency for Karla Faye Tucker. "Did you meet with any of them?" I ask. Bush whips around and stares at me. "No, I didn't meet with any of them", he snaps, as though I've just asked the dumbest, most offensive question ever posed. "I didn't meet with Larry King either when he came down for it. I watched his interview with Tucker, though. He asked her real difficult questions like, 'What would you say to Governor Bush?'" "What was her answer?" I wonder. "'Please,'" Bush whimpers, his lips pursed in mock desperation, "'don't kill me.'" I must look shocked — ridiculing the pleas of a condemned prisoner who has since been executed seems odd and cruel — because he immediately stops smirking.
Karla Faye Tucker - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

She was the first woman executed in Texas since the Civil War. Some of the "protesters" included Pope John Paul the II, Pat Robertson, Newt Gingrich. Bush went ahead with it anyway.

I have a book called "Bush on the Couch" written by a prominent DC psychiatrist. In it, it talks about how Bush used to stick firecrackers in frogs and watch them blow up. I'm sorry, but he is NOT what everyone thinks (or at least his supporters)

Kathryn,
....Let me get this straight. I can kill someone and then while in prison awaiting the death penalty I transform and become a Christian and everything is okay? Do I get the same sweet deal if I am a Christian before I commit the murder?

No, I am not saying that at all. What I am saying is that it was and is totally inappropriate for a governor to mock someone sentenced to death. It's totally inappropriate to display that kind of behavior.

Reminds me of that idiotic comment that Bush made when he said "Bring it on." What an embarrassment he is.

Plenty of male convicts experience the same religious transformation and get executed without being media fodder.

IMO, Tucker's case was only special because of gender and the legal system's reluctance to treat female criminals as harshly as the men.

Kathryn,
....It is okay to mock someone like the President but not okay to mock a convicted murderer? I have trouble understanding that. Is the convicted murderer special? It is fine for you to mock W and for me to mock Bill and Monica but not okay for someone/anyone to mock a convicted murderer? BTW, I saw the recent Dana Carvey special on HBO and he makes fun of loads of prominent people including and especially W and It was hysterically funny.
Life is good!
