When will Sen Obama take a peek at Iraq?

Pretty interesting WSJ piece that puts the spotlight on the candidate that wants to be the Commander in Chief of the military yet, can not find time in his busy life to meet with them in Iraq.

Quote:
Mr. Obama has dismissed the value of such trips, suggesting they are stage-managed productions designated to obfuscate, not illuminate, the truth. This has become an all-too-common sentiment within the Democratic Party leadership, especially since the surge began to transform conditions on the ground for the better. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has denied that there is any value in visiting the troops in Iraq, and has never done so.
In fairness, there are a number of Democrats who visit Iraq frequently – namely Sens. Joe Biden, who has made eight Iraq trips, and Jack Reed, with 10 trips. Mr. Obama's absence and cynicism stands in stark contrast to their serious approach. It is especially problematic given his intention to become our next commander in chief.

Big shock: the opinion page of the WSJ espoused a view that jibes with Republican ideas. Next!

Why would Obama go to Iraq, when one of his main platform points is to get them home within 18 months of taking office??

All the more reason to make a visit so that he can make a more informed decision if he were to be elected President.

And yet another media made issue for us to divide over as if this is the defining issue... Let's take stock of where we are now, today and decide if we are better off than say, 8 years ago?

Check you portfolios, folks (that is after you go grocery shopping & fill up with gas), after visiting the real estate agents office wondering why your house hasn't sold yet after reducing the price 40%... How many of you are having to return to work because your principle has sunk or vanished? What about all those promises about this war?

We just finished the primaries folks. Obama & McCain haven't even really squared off yet... sucker punches.

Besides, WHO is Ruppert to define a candidates position just because he bought the WSJ with American dollars? It ain't the same journal anymore, it's been bought and sold and is no longer the resource it once was! Criminy! It's an investment now, dependent upon ratings and advertisers!

Personally I've never been a big fan of congressional junkets & fact finding tours to war zones & other places. I think a lot of it is unnecessary and some of it is actually detrimental to our foreign policy.

But I've been out of state & country some lately & haven't been able to keep up with the news that much the past few weeks. What has Obama said about why he didn't /wouldn't /won't go?
