Why Hillary keeps running...

I caught a group of talking heads on CNN today discussing the Energizer Bunny continuing run of Mrs. Clinton and speculating as to why she hasn't yet thrown in the towel. Most of the reasons thrown out were the well worn ones: ego, sore loser, denial, etc. However, one interesting theory I hadn't heard before involved her stand on health care.

The theory is that Hillary may be holding out for changes to Obama's health care plans. After her unsuccessful and highly visible attempt to help Bill reform health care in 15 years ago, health care reform is a subject she takes very personally. This is one of the few areas where she shows a substantive difference with Obama, so she very well may be holding out until the Demo convention in an effort to force changes, proposing a universal health care plan to cover all Americans - unlike Obama's which will require only all children to have coverage.

This theory makes as much sense as any other as to why she's still spending money in an attempt to get her party's nomination.

But then, what do I know...

EDIT: Since I haven't spent much time reading the rantings and ravings Soap Box forum, this may have already been discussed. If so, my apologies...

I have one other theory - after all this, she might still be holding out a sliver of (or the Audacity of) hope that Obama slips up before the convention.

The pastor thing hurt him - who knows, something bad comes out on obama or Michelle - it isn't out of the realm....

Kind of like a car race with the winner two laps ahead of you - heck, his engine could blow out - might as well stay in the race.

I think it has to do with finances. She owes at least $20 million. She cannot collect any campaign funds if she quits the race. I think she is looking for a big win in WV and a cash bump from donations. The longer she is in, the more pressure she can put on Obama to pay off her debts, too.

It also looks bad for Obama if she pulls out and he loses badly in WVa, or Kentucky.

She might as well stay in until the last primary ( Puerto Rico?) and until she can extract the last dollar. As long as she is stumping for party unity and beat the Repbulicans, and not using any dirty politics against Obama, no one from the DNC is going to stop the contest.

My bet is that its about money to pay off campaign debts.

I was amazed at what I learned about elections in Puerto Rico. Apparently they routinely have participation rates in elections down there of 90+%, even in primary races. I had to ask my guide to repeat that, since I thought I misheard the first time.

She's good for it (see Millionaires-in-Chief - Clinton's money (1) - Money Magazine).

Oh I hope not. She'll be 65 then, far too old.

There should be a constitutional amendment prohibiting anyone over the age of 60 running for the presidency. That would get rid of McCain's candidacy, and would have prevented the Reagan embarrassment.

Why 60, because they'd be out of office by 65 (the state sponsored retirement age)? Why not 55, or 70?

This is my theory as well. As long as there are superdelegates, her theory is "anything could happen."

Or maybe one saying you have to be born in the U.S.

Yeah, I think it is the superdelegates and frankly, I thought the idea of them was to potentially "override" the system to keeping a less than electable person in place that the Democrats do so often...And frankly, I think she has a point....the states that were swing states in the last 2 elections...Ohio and Florida, she probably would do better in....

That seems rather arbitrary.

What do you have against John Adams, Harry Truman and Dwight Eisenhower (to name 3)?

Seems to me most society's respected and looked up to the elders. Long as they can do the job I don't particularly care what age they are

Perhaps they didn't serve as president of his country...

My girl Hillary --- waaa waaa waaa

I'm gona get you out of that pants suit one day........ waaa waaa ... waaa waaa

Or as done by the group Bad Manners:

My girl Hillary, you make my heart go giddy up,
You are as sweet as candy, you are my sugar dandy,
Oh, oh, my girl Hillary, never ever leave me,
Because it would grieve me, my heart told me so.

I'll bet that when ole Bubba sees that hard ass walking across the stage in one of those sexy pants suits, he regrets diddling around with those other women! What a sorry, sorry guy he must be. But, hey, at least you know he's not messing around with your girl Hillary!

Interesting when I say it. It is because of admiration. When you say it. It seems some weird sexual thing is going on. I never knew you had a "thing" for Hillary!

Hey now there might be something too that paddling thread

Wow what an astonishingly bad idea.
Let see say goodbye to one or more terms of the following Presidents widely considered to be above average

Washington
Adams
Jefferson
Madison
Monroe
Jackson
FDR
Truman
Ike
Reagan
Bush Sr.

The only good presidents under 60 are Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and JFK.

Hey, we know what you admire about Hillary! You MILF loving guys are something else...........

I still think Hillary was involved with Bubba and Monica in a threesome kind of thing and they're holding out on giving us the details until they write their final memoirs. They'll have the last laugh...... and they're make a zillion bux on the movie rights! I wonder who'll play Hillary in the movie?

You know when I read your post where you referred to Hillary as a "hard ass" I thought you meant you admired her butt. Maybe you meant she had a hard ass or tough personality?

Nah..........
