If this is what the world thinks of Americans, imagine how badly they'd think without all the defense and foreign aid they receive from us.

A little sensitive aren't we?

Since I have no doubts about the US being a great country and a great place to live this doesn't bother me at all. I think that it's pretty funny.

I noticed that they omitted Africa, the second largest continent in land mass, completely and made what I assume to be North Korea an island. They do need to work on their geography a bit but I guess that is part of the humor.

I saw another version that showed Saudi Arabia as "Our Oil."

Nope. You suggest chemo or radiation first?

Actually, the original post said this is what Americans think of the world (not the other way around)

This is what my husband USED to think....before I straightened him out and brought him to the "uninhabited" area Gee, for an area that's uninhabited, there sure are a lot of people around....

Happy Stampede!!!!! yee haw

Another satirical view, from the 70's:

YouTube - randy newman-political science

I remember a map like that centered around New York City, same concept. I thought that was funny, too. With a grain of truth.

Far out!

The shape of Puget Sound is a little off, but otherwise it seems quite accurate to me.

Yes, as I recall it showed LA but not SF and that bothered a lot of people in NorCal. The response was a San Franciscan's view of the world that showed NJ and not NYC.

To me the most remarkable aspect of the map is the use of the word "pussies". We know they aren't talking about cats, and we know that the word is intended to be pejorative-the French and Italians and all that.

So how come it is acceptable to turn a female body part name that couldn't be mentioned lovingly without being snatched right off the page, into a pejorative that implies weakness or negative character traits?

This makes it OK? The world is truly a weird place.

haha, I was talking with a friend of mine a while back about that. In English all the words for "lady parts" have nasty, mean connotations ..whereas in Italian, as you may know, they are pretty universally positive (if still a bit vulgar). There's something Anglo-Saxon that abhors the "fica" (fig).

I have a feeling I already posted this here but what the heck:
YouTube - Roberto Benigni i vari nomi della fica

W la fica!

----
sam (below), you're right. Men parts are also underloved!

Bravo!!

Back to the point: I don't think there's anything exclusively misogynistic about the use of slang for genitalia in this way, since we use "dick" and "prick" as derogatory terms, too. (e.g. "my boss is a prick" is clearly an insult). It's more about the whole Anglo-Saxon view of sex that we got in distilled form from our Puritan ancestors: done by someone to someone, and generally a dirty thing.
