In your 1:01 pm post, you said "Smoking pot has absolutely nothing in common with mainlining street drugs with a dirty needle..."

Perhaps the highlighted language comes across more strongly than you intended; clearly, all brands of intoxicants, whether legal or not, have something in common. (I would be happy claiming pot is "safe," within any real life meaning of that term.)

Have a good weekend.

Have a good weekend.

Granted, both activities result in a "high", but the implication was that if one were to smoke a joint then one might as well go share a needle with the local junkie. So, the safety and/or wisdom of those two activities was the subject, and, given those conditions, "absolutely nothing" seemed appropriate.

I would add that breathing smoke is probably not a good thing, and likely some years down the road you may regret doing it. But pierce your skin with a needle, and whatever substances and/or microbes were involved are now your immediate problem!

Many years ago there was a 6:00pm news cast. They were doing a remote from a public park that was having a “smoke-in”….essentially a gathering (protest, if you will) to shine the spotlight on legalizing marijuana. The reporter was interviewing one of the participants. While you got the impression that after an afternoon of heavy smoking, he was pretty ‘mello’, his comments came out thoughtful and informed.
So, the reporter sends it back to the studio and the anchor says an off-the-cuff, non-scripted remark that goes something like this and has stuck with me all the years. “Thanks Bill! Imagine if this were prohibition and that same crowd had been drinking all day long to make their point….. you’d need a police escort for protection.”

Sounds like Hippie Hill at the east end of Golden Gate park (near Stanyan). I'm told there is a gathering of people smoking the wacky baccy there at 4:20 most afternoons. The gathering on April 20th every year is of course, much larger.

I have to say, as time goes on any kind of smoking is losing its charm. THC-infused coconut oil gelcaps & other medibles, on the other hoof, are mediums far less abrasive and unhealthy. Sort of having your cake, and eating it, too.

LOL...close. Actually, I used the term 'park', but actually it was the Cow Palace parking lot

Back in the 70's, the sheriff in a county outside of Cleveland raided a farm and harvested about a ton of MJ. They needed only a few pounds to make the case against the "farmer". The rest they announced would be burned in an open bonfire! The crowd at the burning were definitely mellow!

When I was a kid it seemed like every week the local paper (yep, only came out on Thursdays) would have a picture of the sheriff and his deputies burning a huge pile of MJ they had discovered growing down by the river. The deputies were always standing in the smoke

As far as personality types go, I'm not sure if I would agree.

As a bladder cancer awareness advocate, while I favor legal use of MJ, caution that smoke inhalation is a leading factor in bladder cancel. Suggest chocolate brownies. "Safer". Not sure of any other safer means but use good judgment in retirement. Bladder Cancer is a bummer.

It has been five + years of chronic pain from spinal nerve damage, peripheral neuropathy, as well as arthritis, treated with Oxy/Hydro. Because of the fear of addiction, physical dependance, and the hallucinations that accompany the recommended dosages I frequently limit my meds until the pain level becomes too uncomfortable. Florida does not have MM except for extremely specific seizures so I am restricted by law to the real physically addictive narcotics for severe pain relief. No MM available for me to lead a more normal and pain reduced life.

Is there anyone with no severe pain management problems who is against legalizing MM willing to trade places? Probably not until you or a loved one are faced with the same conditions. Hope you are never in that situation.

For other reasons I don't have a problem with just making it legal for general consumption. Until the laws are changed in Florida I'm out of luck.

Cheers!

Badger my empathy. I've had cervical issues with "severe" pain. The opioids make life a depressing place for me. Seems like some MM would be a much better solution.

I'm with you I don't see why it's not legal all over, for many good reasons. Best wishes.

I know we barely missed on the constitutional amendment last year, with 57% voting for (needing 60%), but there is a bill that's been filed for the state legislature this year, and also another attempt at the constitutional amendment for 2016. Hopefully you'll have the option soon. Personally I wouldn't let the law get in the way, but different strokes for different folks.

Thank you. The two things that stop me from using MM is the absence of controlled growing and processing for unadulterated marijuana and the lack of connections.

Lets hope the state legislature approves a more wide spread use for folks like me and there will be success with the constitutional amendment. It will probably still take a year or more after that for availability. The best of circumstances still has me waiting for two more years.

Retirement has not quite been what I was working toward.

Cheers!

Are THC canisters available for vaporizers like the nicotine ones that many people use today as nicotine delivery systems?

Ha
