Been searching Marina info at various locations lately. Also general travel info for various resort areas.

I don't use ad blockers, so now I am getting targeted ad's with jet fuel prices !

Did I forget about my non existent Gulfstream private jet? or does Google need to tweak their spying on my browsing habits and info they have on me

Every time I visit the "Blow that Dough" thread here, I get all kinds of interesting ads.

I'm looking at the page header right now as I type this, and Harry Connick Jr. is staring at me about a colonoscopy alternative. My last thread? "Colonoscopy shock".

Gotta love the cookies and analytics. :)

I must not be doing this correctly. Right now I am seeing two ads; one for Campbell's chicken noodle soup (which I would hardly regard as a luxury item), and the other for paperback books at 30% off the cover price.

Oh well, no resorts or jet fuel ads. Guess they've got ME pegged.

With FireFox add-ins Ghostery, AdBlock Plus, BetterPrivacy, and Wallflower I am pretty well protected. My browser is also set to reject third-party cookies and to clear all cookies each time in closes. Only very rarely do I see any advertisements at all. Web sites load faster, too.

Very occasionally a web site will complain that I am blocking ads and refuse to display. Fine. That's their right. AdBlock and Ghostery can be turned off on a siite-by-site basis, but I usually just move on.

The two important ones are:
https://adblockplus.org/
https://www.ghostery.com/

These two are in the nice-to-have category:
https://betterprivacy.en.softonic.com/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/wallflower-1/

It's part of the new Google Prediction (beta) tool.

Not guilty, I swear!

From time to time when I pull up this site, the top banner ads include women in skimpy swimwear. I can imagine what Google Analytics thinks of me.

Get thee behind me, Google! In another minute or two I'm going to click on another thread; that'll teach you and your foul temptresses. I'm totally not falling for the bait. Yep, any moment now I'm gonna stop staring...

Wow! I cannot even imagine.

Right now, I have an ad for the Louisiana Lottery (guess they think I need a major cash inflow to supplement my can of Campbell's soup). :ROFLMAO:

Also, an ad for a women's rain jacket. It rains a lot here so that makes sense.

Somehow I got rid of the woman's underwear/bathing suit ads, but now I'm getting ads for Famous Amos cookies. Talk about cookies for cookies. DW is celiac, so I know she wasn't looking at Famous Amos.

Great! Now because of your post I'm seeing cookie ads!

Reminds me of when our dear friend's DW was having severe health problems and he mentioned "adult diapers." We started getting Depends ads.

You are all now welcome for the Depends ads that will be popping up...

(Point is, it isn't always just you, it can be what's on this page.)

Same experience, only with Chrome. Also, I switched from AdBlock Plus to UBlock Origin. I'm seeing a lot of other folks recommending that now, too. I don't even remember why I got rid of AdBlock, but uBlock has been great.

Now I'm sort of sorry I can't join in on the fun of telling what ads I see. 'Cause I don't see ads at all! :)

Would you prefer the bathing suit/ underwear ads?

I think that one is going to get ads no matter what. The pages have to be paid for somehow and I prefer ads with content that might have something I'm innerested in rather than just random ads. I have never clicked on an ad on purpose. I have never bought anything from an internet ad. Somebody else is paying for my web page that I view for free.

Everything has a cost. I still can't believe that ads are effective. I have learned to just not look at them.

We still have a landline and yesterday we got a call that my computer was infected and they could help me fix it! I guess that's effective too and pays off to make it worth doing. Also, the IRS has put out a warrant for my arrest!

Maybe Google analysed your portfolio and determined you're net worth will triple by Wednesday.

Raisin Bran. Maybe they started looking up my @$$ and thought I needed some more fiber!

Chrome browser and adblock on a Chromebook. Never seen an ad or banner here.

Same here, except occasionally I have to turn adblock off because it starts slowing my browser down. Turn it back on and good to go again,

...and for some reason, FB has been showing me ads for used yachts, used cigar boats, cruiser cabins, etc.

They must have you marked down as "poor rich" who can only afford cast-off used yachts, cigar boats, cruiser cabins, etc.

Ok Google analytics is getting a little better. Now getting advertising for NetJets . Looks like NetJets is fractional jet ownership. They figured out I can't afford a whole biz jet by myself.

I think I will start web searches for trailer parks , maybe that will center my consumer profile.

Because I do a lot of retirement reading, Google thinks I'm old, and I get all kinds of targeted advertising for products that I shouldn't need for 25 years!
