Posting videos to Facebook

I was just trying to post a very cute video of my Grandkids dancing to a Fleetwodd Mac song in the Rumours album which was playing on the TV and was having a hard time doing so. Come to find out Facebook's software did not allow the post to proceed because the song playing in the background was copyrighted. Rats, how can one post any videos IN FB with music in the background? I guess I'll have to find a way to delete the music in mp4 videos...

It may be possible to make the video into several short clips. I did this in youtube without getting flagged.

Just Google (or whatever) "free music." There are a number of Royalty free music sites that I have used for video background music.

Also if its "modified" its not copyrighted.. ie if the kids sang along, made noise with instruments, etc. the algorithm typically only listens and matches, so its only a problem if its uninterrupted song in the background.

You may also be able to post it on YouTube and then link to it. Youtube will complain about the "song" but then as its a private site, they usually just allow for an ad to run at the bottom saying "to buy this song, click here" or whatever. Some artists don't allow any play of their song but many will allow it as long as there is an ad run with it.

Thanks for the suggestions. This was not a planned event, the kids just started dancing as the TV was playing that particular song in the background and my tablet picked up the sound as I was videoing them. Is there any way to remove the audio portion only from an mp4?

Apparently, you are not alone:

Google "edit mp4" and you will find many (most free) MP4 editing programs.
