My CO detectors are plug-in with battery back up. I have 3 actually. One went off the other day when we had no gas burning stuff going on at all. I opened all the windows and pulled it out and replaced it with one of the other units, and there was no alarm. It seems fine now.
I get false alarms with the smoke alarms every time I cook, but I'd never had one with the CO detector before.
Weird gremlins, I presume.

I have some hard wired smoke detectors and some battery powered. They drive me nuts but I guess it's better than being found dead.

In Hawaii, at least in my experience...if a house burns down, it's pile of ashes stays there for a looong time.

OK, I ended up buying a 2-pack First Alert Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm combo with a 10-Year batteries. Got it at Costco. Will get another 2-pack in a couple of weeks. I hope to out-live the batteries.
