- Biography
- I graduated with a degree in finance and worked with my Father (Real Estate Developer) on junk bond financing for a casino project as well as conventional financing for apartments and other real estate deals. I transitioned into the internet when I built a site to streamline the distribution of data needed when attorneys were preparing a Red Herring for a junk bond deal. I went back to school to study ecommerce architecture in 1998 and spent a few years working as a business analyst. I worked on various projects including a project to help streamline provision of the business to business assets for GTE & Bell Atlantic (now called Verizon). I sold the stock in the consulting company before the first dot.com bust and was a snowboard bum in Colorado for a couple years. I was then called back to lead the IT Department for an RIA/Financial Services firm in Dallas. After a few years and legacy systems upgraded to modern portable databases I left to start Social Knowledge.
Social Knowledge is a small business that owns online forum communities (including this one). It's been a great learning experience and being a small business owner is more work then anyone tells you about. I don't mind the work because I don't have any annoying people to report to. Because of this aspect and being able to work from anywhere in the world, I think it's the perfect job for me.
In the last 3 years I have been to 6 continents working from beautiful places and meeting lots of great people. I have learned so much about the world and hope it will help me make decisions as I "grow up".
I invest in Dimensional Funds, have no debt, live below my means and hope to retire early.
