Re: Is Nashville A Diamond In The Rough?

Sent four engineer's to Huntsville,AL over my career and lived there myself 1 1/2 years. That side of the mountain range has a lot of nice areas for those interested. Schools and UAH were still good in the 80's and 90's - a bit discovered though. One of my doughnut shop buddies is building a vacation cabin in Tennessee (New Orleans city boy - ER'd at 55).

Re: Is Nashville A Diamond In The Rough?

Nashville is a pretty nice town. The folks are pretty friendly and there is lots to do, especially if you like country music. I am a Chattanooga boy and like Chatt-town better than Nashville any day.

As far as Nashville, I always liked the Mt. Juliet area. I have not been there in six or seven years so I don't have any idea about real estate prices.

One nice side-benefit: Tennessee has no state income tax (yet). There is a tax on dividends if your dividend income is significant.
