Toyota has now sold enough hybrid cars that the federal tax credits will be slashed in half effective October 1. 

Tax credits for hybrids:

2006 Prius:                      Was $3150       Will be $1575
2006 Highlander 4WD       Was $2600       Will be $1300
2007 Lexus Gs 450th       Was $1550       Will be $775
2007 Camry                     Was $2600       Will be $1300

2007 Chevy Silverado 4WD Pickup remains at $650
2007 Ford Escape 4WD  remains at $1950
2007 Mercury mariner 4WD remains at $1950
2007 Saturn Vue Green Line remains at $650

That credit will be nice next April. The 55-60 mpg I am getting is nice, too.

I got a Prius in May. Or, I should say pogirl did and she loves it. I took over the CRV.
