Come on gang , you still believe this idiocy? Dry runs at the airports and nobody gets arrested? sorry this is a bunch of BS.

didn't know cheese was a banned substance ...

there is a reason that it could be...

Experts Praise Airport Security Warning - Forbes.com

Cheese is a good stand-in for explosives, such as C4 and Semtex, that are favored by terrorists because they can look similar to X-ray scanners, he said.

Suspicious items intercepted at airports initiate new terror warnings

This government bulletin warns of unusual items found in passenger bags in recent months. The items resembled bomb components, including wires embedded in blocks of cheese,
But, newguy would rather just complain and blame someone he dislikes.

Of course, if someone did sneak some C4 inside a block of cheese onto a plane, he'd be the first to complain about that, too. And guess who he would blame?

20 people stole airplanes on 9/11. 20 Saudis. How many more times do we have to hear from the Bush administration that terrorists are on their way to kill us??

We live in a free society, if some animal is hell bent on killing someone its gonna happen.

Quite frankly I would stop buying saudi oil and really make the money trail to alqeada dry up.

Maybe we should drill off the east coast?? How about the gulf off florida? How bout Alaska??

But Noooo, we want to swim on vacation. Better to buy oil from other parts of the world, from people who hate us. Or better yet have you seen how poor the people in Nigeria are?? The delta where their crude oil comes from??

That is one big crime against all who pay the Nigerians for their oil.

I wasn't aware that president clinton was personally at the airport to inspect all pasengers bags when he was in office?

Do you have any other purpose here other than to start threads on President Bush?

Explain how this would work.

If *we* stop buying saudi oil, the rest of the world will buy it from them. And since those other sources probably could not supply enough oil for us, we would need to increase our purchases from other countries, driving up the price of their oil, and probably allowing the Saudi to get even *more* money for their oil. Supply and demand. Oil is a fungible commodity.

I think your idea has even less merit than trying to stop cheese bombs. Neither one is a 'solution' to much of anything. But stopping wired cheese blocks *might* stop some bad guys though.

I'm sure that newguy remembers what a good job (if I may use that phrase) Clinton did in stopping the *first* attack on the WTC?

Lets see, you are blaming the president for a possible bomb being detected. Did you ever think that if Bush had not overhauled Homeland security and the TSA, the bomb might have made it on to the plane.

IMHO there is no constitutional right to fly. If there are passengers who can't adequately explain what TSA found then they should be banished from the air terminals. "Cute" doesn't cut it. This has nothing to do with political correctness or the idiot in the White House.

Anyone who is banished has our court system available to change their status.

Amen.

I'm glad you are a RETIRED teacher, unfortunately it sounds like you caused a lot of damage in the youth you taught. Before you go off on your next socialistic soapbox derby...............don't...............:p

There is no need to arrest anyone, just put them on the "do not fly list" if there is no reasonable explanation for what was found.

I didn't have time to read the whole thread, but I'd like to throw in my 2 cents anyway.

I got this cheese from Trader joe's the other day - the taste was simply explosive. I mean, to die for. Fresh farmed Havarti or something.

Dill? Nope, just the plain kind. Very rich and creamy though. I'm inclined to say it was da bomb!

It's so good to have a thread devoted entirely to fromageophiles.

Raw milk Havarti maybe? You've got me thinking now. I'm going to pick up some raw milk Havarti for some cubans (sandwiches, not immigrants) this weekend... maybe pair it with some eggplant fries.

Ooo... that'll be perfect. Thanks!
