The problem with this is that Federal Agencies can't keep up with change as it occurs. Not sure it is a good idea to have them providing cover for corporations.

I do not trust corporations or federal agencies to be quick enough or comprehensive enough to be proactive on all consumer safety issues.

I don't trust anyone to be able to foresee all possible outcomes of events. Granted that ambulance-chasing lawyers leave a bad taste in the mouths of many people, but they do serve a purpose. Holding the feet of makers of bad products to the fire isn't all bad.
 
Why is this a shock? This administration has been particularly aggressive in trying to concentrate power in its hands, whether they have the right to it or not. What else is new?
 
I understand the basic conflict about tort reform. But this seems to be going about it in a wrong headed way.

Since the Government cannot be held responsible if they cause a problem through error or mistake... I suppose this would mean no one is responsible.
