CA residents - Need your assistance with tax withholding...

I'm a single male with a single income in CA.

For some reason my tax withholding allowance has grown to:

2 for Federal
1 for State

for a total of 3

Did I do anything wrong here? I remember I was only a 2 before....

If you're referring to the allowances from your paycheck, I believe you specify with your employee what your allowances are for State & Federal, and they withhold accordingly. I'd ask the payroll department at your employer about it if you want to change these.

I'm a single male without kids and I claimed five exemptions and still ended up overpaying. Of course all that extra money just went to interest payments on the house so it's not like I actually saw it.
