Let's say when you retire, your spending is 65K annually (in today's dollars). 20K comes from SS and 45K comes from your tax defferred 401K's - total of 65K. (Let's say you have no dividends or gains from any of your taxable accounts.) You don't own any real estate (you rent.) No charity contributions. You elect standard deduction for taxes. You live in CA.

What amount would you put for the "spending"(which includes taxes) on the first page for Firecalc calculation? How did you figure it out?

Also is there a tax estimator you can use to guestimate the "spending" for Firecalc for various spending amount scenarios?

I am clueless on the tax part of the equation, so I thought I'd ask you guys for help.

I can add more hypothetical numbers if needed..

Thank you!

Thanks REWahoo. That looks like a good link.

Does anybody know a good state tax estimator for California?
