ER haiku - any takers?

How much can you say on the topic in 17 syllables?

My time is my own
Slave to the man no more, I
Do as I please now

Goodbye, Megacorp.
I don't have to take your crap --
Dump on someone else.

Alarm clocks are no more,
Coffee aroma
Stirs me from slumber

Good thought, but a *traditional* haiku is 5-7-5 based on the Japanese tradition. I tend to be a traditionalist. :)

I knew I shouldn't have posted on this thread...

How about:

Wake up!
And smell
The effing coffee

:)

Heh -- actually yours is as correct from the 17 syllable standpoint. I had never heard of the claim that in English, the number of syllables on a line don't matter...

Or maybe we should just use Mr. Garrison's definition from South Park: A haiku is just like an English poem, except it doesn't rhyme and it's totally stupid. :)

I love it when I master a subject on the first attempt...

And soon the payoff.

Can't rely on SSA.
You're screwed, Grasshopper.

Try to understand
for this is not hard to do
Live below your means.

with hard work and thrifty plans
to enjoy life's riches

I am not a poet
But I will soon be FIRE
And I know it

Transitions ever serene
MY bowl of cherries.
