For our Cagarians (?) there is an article in The Economist about political power shifting out of Toronto:

Canadian cities: The charms of Calgary | The Economist

Shouldn't be going to Edmonton though, the provincial capital and even closer to the tar sands?

My brother has lived in Edmonton (sherwood Park) since 1966 and boy has it changed, I remember when the big hotel on the hill was the largest structure in town and way before the mall.

Thanks for the article.

At the height of the boom in 2006, there were tons of people moving here from Toronto due to the ton of jobs available (not so much anymore).

As for Edmonton being the powerhouse instead of Calgary, that will never happen. Edmonton may be the provincial capital but Calgary is where the money is and where the oil and gas deals are made in the shiny downtown office buildings
