A class of 3rd graders in England conducted a project on how bees see. Their work was peer reviewed and has been published in one of the Royal Society's scientific journals.

The authors' names look so serious and grown up, and then you click on "author affiliations": Blackawton Primary School, Blackawton, Devon, UK. of course they had an adult scientist helping them. It just goes to show how good educators can empower their students.
One of the commentators notes that if some of these kids go into research careers, their resumes will look good, but they will have to explain the 15 year delay between publications!!
