Rent a computer and they will watch you...

That's creepy. I hope they have to pay a few bucks out on this one. I like the school district that took 400 shots of a HS student including some while he was sleeping in his room. It will probably turn out that a pedophile was in charge of the spying.

By the way, for those who like a brief synopsis, a rental company installed keylogger and web cam spying software on its computers so it could track users, presumably to defend itself against theft. Same with the school district. No consent was obtained in either case.

A few years back an auto dealer was installing a device to remotely disable the car when ever payments were late. I actually saw one on a car that was brought in for a customer clinic where I worked. Not exactly cyper spying, but definitely Orwellian.

The way the article reads, the leasing company has the right to protect its assets... so the example you gave would be OK (according to what I read)... IOW, it is not intrusive... you did not make payment, you do not get to use the car... they seemed to indicate that if the software did the same it would be OK....

The problem came with the picture taking..... and I also think the company should pay big time.... I also think that they should NOT be able to take pics at all... even if there was 'consent' signed.... we all know that very few people read the contracts... so I would propose a law banning this kind of activity....
