I spent the last 10 days in Colorado trail riding in the high country. We did forest service roads that cut through the mountain passes. I rode the first days with my BIL and the last part of the trip with my oldest son. The trip exceeded my expectations. Some of the trails were Ute Pass, Boreas Pass, and Mosquito Pass. Most elevations were 10K to 11.5K with one trail above 12K.

Boreas Pass was the highest elevation narrow gauge RR that ran from Denver to Leadville. We did the part from Breckenridge to Como.

Bikes used for the ride were stock Yamaha XT250 and Suzuki DR650.
The XT could have used a re-jetting but we got by with pure gas and changing the plug every 2 days. It only bogged down at top speed (60 mph) when running on pavement. Trails were fine since we hardly ever went full throttle.

Great stuff!
When I lived in Colorado many years ago, I had a Honda CB360T and I used to love going up into the mountains on weekends. There are some old ghost towns from the silver mining days that you can hardly get to except with a bike or a burro.
