Since my cardiac bypass in 2004, I have been prescribed the drug Plavix. It has gotten very expensive in the last two years through my mail order prescription plan. I get a 90 day supply for about $180 copay. About a year ago I thought I'd try a Canadian pharmacy that does a lot of business in this area. I can get the generic equivalent for $85 per 90 day supply.
The generic is mfg by Cipla pharmacy in India and from what I was able to find out, is approved by our FDA. The last order is still by Cipla but now comes from Vanuatu in the south pacific. I am feeling more aches and pains and wonder if I should be concerned about this change in the manufacturing facilities. I'm calling my doctor tomorrow for another prescription which I will fax to my mail order pharmacy and get another supply of the real thing (Plavix).
Was wondering if anyone has experienced a similar reaction to a generic version of a medication? I am going to try to contact the FDA and check this out. Any ideas?
