Had some dental work done today. Mentioned to the young lady assisting my dentist how much this day was like 9/11/01 - beautiful blue sky and everything. Related my memories of seeing the smoke rising from the Pentagon from my office window in Alexandria. Asked her if she remembered what happened. She said she did, even though she was in 3rd grade then.

That made me feel so old! However, when reflecting on this, I realized just how long it's been and how much the world has changed. She told me I was the only person she interacted with today who mentioned 9/11. She also said she realized how much this changed her life.

We should never forget that day, as painful as it is. It did change the world in some good ways and some not so good ways.

Here's something I saved from that time.

I was thinking today of the young people who have no memory of 9-11, and how it will be to explain to them what that day was like. None of my six grandchildren were even born then. The oldest is almost 10. It will be like my parents talking about Pearl Harbor and WW2 to me.
