Our 'due date' is 9 months away....looking for advice on things we should be considering / doing this month....and the next several months in preparation for our special day....

What changes can we expect / plan for ...recent post suggested switching our mindset of acquiring wealth to living life; financial considerations at T-9 months, etc....what to tell our friends? When to resign from our jobs.....

Hmm... interesting question!

If your planned retirement spending is less than you are spending now, it might help the transition to live on that smaller amount for these nine months.

Make sure your nestegg is firmly settled in your planned retirement asset allocation and that you have dotted all the i's and crossed the t's on your financial planning.

It might be helpful to get a physical exam from your doctor before retiring.

There have been several discussions here on when to give notice at work, and basically it all depends on your situation.

Gosh, I can't think of much that one should do during those last nine months, other than cross one more day off one's list every morning over coffee. :D

That old thread has a lot of good info. Luckily you should not have to worry about insurability issue mentioned there (PPACA should be there for you). And for a couple that hasn't even hit the big five-oh, you've got quite a bridge to cross before medicare! But you will probably need to decide whether to go COBRA or PPACA. If you can keep your income under $62,920 (or so ... 2015 will be different), then it should be an easy decision, since you'll get a subsidy on health insurance premiums that would be hard to beat with a COBRA plan. Nine months from now, you can go on healthcare.gov and buy HI (since you had a qualifying life event...leaving employment). Don't reject COBRA (just don't pay for it...you have 60 days), while you're waiting for your healthcare.gov policy to kick-in.
