I just did some googling about Max Baer Jr. He's a pretty smart guy, in reality. His net worth is estimated at $50M. Did well as a movie producer and financier, and has been trying to build a Beverly Hillbillies themed casino in Las Vegas. Who'd a thunk it?

Neither one of them could get a decent acting job after BH. I always wonder about people who get locked into a role. There seem to be a million of them. I guess they're sort of the One Hit Wonders of the TV world. These two, Bob Denver, Adam West, the list goes on and on.

Yes, RIP Donna Douglas, who seemed a sweet soul with a big heart.

There probably was a level of overachievement in some of these people's acting careers--I imagine they had good personalities and no doubt were happy to have the work when typecast. The person I am most impressed with is William Shatner--he certainly has had the last laugh on being typecast.

In regards to Max Baer Jr, I had no idea his father was a boxer.

I had the good fortune and the pleasure of meeting Donna Douglas in 1982, at week-long conference in Oklahoma. She was doing the children's program there, as well as a couple of appearances with one of the other speakers. During a lunch break one day, several of us were just milling around in the auditorium after lunch, and she walked over and introduced herself. She was dressed as her Elly May character, ready for her afternoon with the kids. She was just as sweet and lovable as her Beverly Hillbillies character. We visited for 15-20 minutes until she had to go.

I also got to meet and talk with Rosie Greer at that conference during a lunch break. I think the lunch breaks may have been more fun and memorable than the actual conference!
