Curious if there are any new television shows that anyone is looking forward to this year?

I am curious about Designated Survivor with Kiefer Sutherland and the return of Better Call Saul.

I've heard that The Good Place starring Kristin Bell and Ted Danson is pretty funny, in a dark humor sort of way. I'll give it a chance, although I really don't watch that much TV unless the show has zombies or spaceships.

Just noticed an advertisement on CBS for a new version of MacGyver. Don't know that I'm looking forward to it but may be interesting.

In addition to the above (though I'll probably pass on MacGyver), Bull looks like it may have possibilities. A law story around a jury picking expert. Could be a TV version of a Grisham novel. Or it could just be another overly smug niche expert butting heads against the senior guy who doesn't like him, in an annoying way.

In terms of new shows, MacGyver and Bull are the ones that i'm most looking forward to although my hopes are low on MacGyver. It can't possibly be as good as the original series. Yesterday I made a list(by day) of all the shows i'm going to try to keep up with starting tomorrow and there are 57 of them not counting the 5 talks show I watch regularly. I figure it will get cut down below 50 after a few weeks and a few of those are just 30 minute shows but that's still around 40 hours a week. That's my main form of entertainment and I still make sure I get some exercise in so I don't think there is anything wrong with watching that much tv.

I will just ask... can you also give the channel of your pick... I would like to see if I can get it or not...

I am going to record the first show of a number of new shows... since I can record on DVR, I might as well give some a chance... you never know what might be good...

Me, I am looking forward to MacGyver, Bull and Last Survivor.... I have not seen anything on Last Survivor (since I normally pass up commercials), but the description sounded interesting... but the other two look like they could be interesting...

Not sure, and I am not going to go look, but I think I am going to preview 3 or so more... none right now stick in my mind...

PBS - Poldark. Victoria.

Just streamed "Churchill's Secret" from the website.

BBC America's "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency"

New shows we set to DVR (computer):

Timeless - NBC
The Exorcist - Fox
Designated Survivor - ABC
Speechless - ABC
American Housewife - ABC

I watch very little regular programming other than HGTV. About the only show I look forward to is The Voice

Nothing was looking very good (I wish The Good Wife was still here..), but I enjoyed the first episode of Designated Survivor. I couldn't watch but a few minutes of Bull and a new show called Notorious before switching it off...

I think Designated Survivor will be interesting.

Miley and Alicia seem to be making The Voice more interesting.

Yes... some big disappointments so far...

Bull appeared that it would be good, and I will give it another shot, but it probably will not be on my watch list...

Same for Notorious.... except that I did not know much about it before watching.... too much fake involved and trying to be edgy.... falls flat for me...

I just watch MacGyver.... also disappointed in this.... I mean, they were putting LABELS on stuff like we were too stupid to figure this stuff out... like we do not know what 'tape' is!!!

So far, the only on that I am keeping on my watch list is Designated Survivor... that seemed like a well written show and it was good...

However, I will give all shows a second watching just to make sure that it was not just a one time thing.... still, some new shows coming up in a couple of weeks that I will have to check out...

I haven't gotten to MacGyver or Exorcist yet but of the other new shows Designated Survivor definitely looks like the best. I thought Bull was better than the average show while Notorious was below average. I'll give Notorious a couple more weeks but it may not make the cut for me.

Now I have watched all the new shows. The Exorcist is just not my type of show. No interest in it at all and it is the only one of the 57 shows that I had planned to watch that will not make it to a second week of watching for me. MacGyver I thought was reasonably good. It looks like it will be sort of a prequel to the original. It showed how things got started. The network clearly took some steps to cater to the younger(18-49) demo and for that reason may not appeal to many on this site. It's not going to be as good as the original series but I never expected it to be. The original was one of the best shows of it's time IMO. If you were not a loyal follower of the original series then you may have missed a few things in this reboot. I will definitely be watching this show just because it's named after quite possibly my favorite(non-comedy) show ever.

The Grand Tour is an upcoming motoring television series for Amazon Video presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, and produced by Andy Wilman. Starting November 18.

We are looking forward to the next seasons of Longmire (Netflix), Poldark (PBS), and new shows Victoria (PBS) and The Crown (Netflix). Also, Dirk Gently on BBC America looks interesting.

I've been enjoying that, except for the annoying woman neighbor.

No zombies or spaceships but it's pretty 'out there'. It's a very odd show. I'm a big fan of Kristin Bell so i'll keep watching it but it's not exactly a high quality show.

It's a good show to break up all the action/killing shows. It is pretty crazy though. I don't know who the fork thought this stuff up but it's some crazy shirt. I don't like some of the characters though, especially the bench next door. :D

I really enjoyed the first episode of Designated Survivor

As did I. I never know there was a such thing as Designated Survivor. Who says watching tv just kills brain cells? I learn lots of things from watching tv. Obviously many things are not real but many are real.

We enjoyed Designated Survivor and Pitch. The others will be coming off our watch list.

I learned about the designated survivor decades ago through this interesting process called "reading".

We don't have cable/satellite/rabbit ears, so don't watch TV, per se, but we do borrow vids from the library.......currently watching Elementary which we are thoroughly enjoying.....no idea of the year(s) it was aired though.
