Just When You Thought Everything Was Right

Did the folks doing the study account for the fact that many who retire early and take SS at 62 do so due to poor health - thus the higher mortality rate?

[-]I saw nothing about this in a quick read of the article.[/-]

Edit: A second look showed this:
The paper notes that the phenomenon may be linked partly to existing health problems that force some to stop working early.

Ya think?

Another tabloid-style headline for a bunk article.

It must be right, there's a graph. 😂

I agree, seems like correlation is causation according to the author. I'm so glad I got out of w*rking rking hard for a living. I can't imagine being my age, 60, and w*rking like I did in my 20s. My body couldn't do it.

I would have been part of that group.

Not worthy of wrapping fish. Demote to bird cage liner.

I'm signing up @ 62; DW @ FRA. I guess when one of us assumes room temp, we'll know who pulled the better lever.

Screw these authors and their bogus articles.

My j*b is killing me.

I'm eating terribly. I can't sleep. "See and Screw Sam" (see current "annoying" thread) signs me up for new work by lobbing motars at me, while we're still losing the fight. I'm not getting the exercise I need due to mandatory late nights and weekend work.

I am so ready to get out of this rat race. I just hope I survive to the finish line (4 months away).

I apologize for not reading the article. I am sure it's right. I am retired and I am soooo miserable. My life sucks. Please....send me back to the salt mines.

Yeah.... ;)

"If you retire early you’re more likely to die early as well."

So, if I don't retire, I'll live forever? :D

The oldest person who ever lived (Jeanne Calment, age 122) never worked a day in her life. She's my idol.

I confess. After amassing a small fortune, I retired early to kill myself. But funny things happened in my ER. I have gotten happier. My health improved. I think I will live a few more years to see where ER takes me.

You must be doing something wrong!! :D

Those people in poor health did the right thing by claiming SS early. That should have been the conclusion of the article.

On the other hand, the more people die without collecting, the more money they leave behind for the more fortunate, who live long and rich. :)
