To me this poll would have meaningful results if it were broken down by age. If I'm 25 and looking at retirement, 5M looks good. If I'm 61, less than a M looks ok. This poll doesn't tell me much.

This is a good point and somethng to consider. However, with VTSMX and VDEQX I can get admiral shares and the expense ratio is lower. The expense ratio is a little higher with the VGTSX.

House no. 1 is paid for. 0% interest ;D

House no. 2 has a 30 year 4.00% adjustable rate that goes up in Feb. of 2008. I retire Jan. 1, 2007 and sell house number two and move into house no. 1.
