What do you splurge on

Didn't you get the memo... dark chocolate is health food.

LOL! DW sure thinks so, I'll take any kind haha! She likes the Lindt Dark Seasalt Caremel...and if I run out, you better believe I go find her stash lol.

In all fairness we do keep a strong physical routine, working out, running, biking etc. so we can splurge on this without too much hesitation.

I splurged on a good purse, just under $300. And I love it! Never had more than one and never spent more than $40 in the past. Also own 5 pairs of shoes now, never had more than 3 before at a time, excluding snow boots! Yup, fashion has never been my thing. Probably never will be.

I did splurge on a pair of Wellington boots when I was in UK. Granted it never rains in California but when it does, I’m ready with my boots. At least it will be good to go out and inspect my garden.

Jewelry.
what can I say, this girl loves her gold and diamonds. unfortunately it's not something I can spurge on often.
I'm going to treat myself to a nice piece when I hit 60

Two new cars the year before we retired, upgraded travel (first class air and 5 star resort/hotel), gifts to kids/grandkids.

For me it was pearls. I spent money on Tahitian pearls on my trip. I did enjoy wearing for a few months. Now I’m not. But if anybody had told me not to buy before I went, I wouldn’t hear of it. My husband was urging me to buy, so that didn’t help.

Oh, yes! We picked up some black pearl jewelry for my wife when we were in Tahiti, and it still impresses me how beautiful it is. I also got a couple of stunning carvings in Nuku Hiva, and when we got back to Papeete we saw the same designs...much more crudely done, in much coarser grain wood, for 2-3x as much!

I also splurged on an expensive to me purse and I bought my daughter one also .Designer purses are not my thing but I saw one I liked and thought "Go for it ".

Getting the right purse is important!!! And a good purse will last a while too. So while it may have been a splurge at the time, it also sounds like a very practical choice to me.

Before I found the right purse for me, I was buying several a year because none of them were working out for me. The one I got wasn't a designer purse but if it had been, I would not have hesitated for a minute. After 4 years it still looks like new and I love it.

I got a purse in Milan, not the most expensive I’ve had, but it’s still not opened by me. I guess I’m not a purse person. One of those days I will get off my duffel and switch the bag over. I need to save the old purse for traveling only.

I just tried it when we were staying with friends and I borrowed hers. It is amazing! We are definitely getting one.

Tell me, how could any hair dyer be “amazing”?

In Sienna, while my wife shopped for a purse for herself and another one as a gift for my daughter, I spotted a black leather man purse that I could buy for myself.

My wife talked me out of it. She said I would not use it when back in the US. So, I did not buy it. And she was right. :)

Nice, Nemo!

NW-Bound, that's too bad. Maybe a backpack would work better for you in the US.

No man purse for my husband, but he did buy wallet and leather jacket. Every two years, we buy new leather stuff especially if we’re in Italy.

It rains with Thunderstorm as of now. I’m all cooped up inside, otherwise without the Thunderstorm, I would take my Wellies out for a walk.

Every 2 years? My leather jackets have lasted for decades.

Style? I still wear double-breasted suits I had from more than 30 years ago. For a while, stores did not carry them, but maybe they are coming back in style now.
