Earworms du jour

I like Keb' Mo' -- he reminds me of Taj Mahal. In fact, I see several YouTube videos where they perform together.

Here's a valentine from Taj.

Montecfo, did you delete the post with the Cowsills link? I got an email alerting me to your post but couldn't find it when I called up this thread. It is absolutely awesome. The band sounded better in this video than they did when they were making hits.

I’m not posting it, but nearly 2 weeks after finishing “The Man in the High Castle ,” I can’t get “Edelweiss” out of my head. UGH.

Because there's snow out there...and because I love the song/vid/trains:

It felt a little like spring the last couple days, but the snowbanks serve as a reminder that it isn't. It won't be long, though.

Here's a wormy tune that took a spin around my head this afternoon.

I got the most bizarre earworm stuck in my head today. It's so annoying I'm not going to link to it. But it came out of nowhere, and I have no idea how it got into my head.

Gee Officer Krupke! from West Side Story.

I mean, I haven't heard that song in a decade or two, so how did it suddenly take up occupancy in my brain? I had to listen to "All About That Bass" by Meghan Traynor a bunch of times to get it out. That's a pretty annoying song too, but it does have a fun bass line.

We are sick, we are sick, we are sick, sick sick, like we're sociologically sick!
Sometimes I'll be doing some chore, and the rhythm of my work brings a song with similar rhythm to mind.

It's funny you'd think of the most satirical song in the musical's program. I think it goes down as one of the greatest musicals of all tine.

Sitting in the chair as phlebotomist gets the tubes and poker aligned in front of me.
Underneath a nearby sink is a small sounds-like-a-tin-can FM radio.
The jab comes.

"Woah, we're halfway there
Woah-oh, livin' on a prayer
Take my hand, we'll make it, I swear
Woah-oh, livin' on a prayer"

Two days now I'm hearing that and telling others about it. Set it up as my ring tone too.

Things I learned: John Cowsill is married to Vicki Peterson of The Bangles.

Here are The Bangles from their reunion as a quartet (1999-2004) before Michael Steele retired. Not a well known song for them but probably my favorite, “Something That You Said”.

Heh, heh, strictly elevator music a couple of days ago when I donated. I was intent on what the "new kid" was doing (to me.) I felt sorry for her. I think I saw her visibly shaking a couple of times. The good news was that she (and I) were attended by a couple of trainers AND (I would say) the on-staff manager for much of the process. Mercifully, the "stick" was really good. First time in a long time I don't have a bruise a few days later. BUT what kept going through my head during my "ordeal" (no idea why - but I think it helped me relax) was this old "standard." Enjoy (or not, as YMMV).

Here's a newer tune that has bona fide earworm potential I think.

Same here, but mine was the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang song.

Thinking the same thing - where the heck does that come from?

Just got back from a brisk walk with my canine buddies ... the pace we set reminded me of this.

They come out of nowhere, take control of (what passes for) your mind, and you have to share them to attain a certain level of 'freedom':

Good songs but my favorite Pretenders song by far is Mystery Achievement.
Worth a listen if you haven't heard it.

I'd heard Nemo's first two but not this one, I believe. At least it didn't get the radio play the first two did.

Reasons to be cheerful ... part one, two, three.

This is creepy in a good way. Baby face teen with incredible mature bass voice:

And then there's Ayla:

Most of the more recent songs aren't ear worms, IMO. They are interesting and/or pleasant to listen to, but they're one and done in my ear. The ear worms are the one's that make me contemplate using my electric drill to clean them out of my head. And curse you, Jerry1, and your Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Hopefully the root canal tomorrow will get it out.

Given that my personal 'earworms' are always songs/tunes that I like, and that they arrive unannounced and without prompting, and retreat when they've achieved whatever indeterminate objectives they wished to accomplish, here's today's:
